Starting From Scratch Lesson #9 CodeTigers/STEM Impressionists Focus: a-MAZE-ing 1. The Hidden Cheese game is a collaborative project created by CS mentors from India and the Unites States as part of their 10-part Scratch class. The underlying concept we were trying to teach our students was advanced sensing and we used a maze to make the lesson fun! The objective of the game is for the mouse to find some cheese! Along the way, the player uses their arrow keys and the hot and cold sensor to navigate the maze, find the key that turns the lights on, and makes their way to the cheese! FUN! 2. Because we worked as a team What did you find difficult while making your project and how did you work it out? 3. We are using this project to teach our students how to participate in the Coolest Project. We know that when students see their mentors doing something they are much more likely to participate themselves. So while normally there would have been more time to work on this project, we want to model the opportunity to compete by having the project listed on the Coolest Projects wall for our students to see. From a technical perspective if we had had more time we would have created enough different costumes for our hot and cold sensor so that it appeared to be more gradient-like.
