Dᴀᴡɴ Iɴᴛᴏ Dᴜsᴋ - CHAPTER 4 The sun was beginning to appear over the horizon, it's warm, welcoming rays woke wolves from their dens and it melted the morning frost away. Pandora, a young she-wolf stepped into the sunshine and stretched, enjoying the feel of warm sunshine on her back. Her pack were enjoying the sun too, and in the small crowd, she spotted her brother, Apollo, come out of the den. "Hey, Apollo!" she barked. "Over here!" "Pandora!" he replied cheerfully, trotting over. "Good Morning." She pressed her cheek against her brother's gingerly. Apollo as the last survivor of her family, so she was especially attached to him. As the sun rose even higher, the pack Alpha, Venus, stepped out of his den. "Wolves of my pack!" he called. "I call a meeting!" All the wolves in the clearing turned their heads to look at Venus. "I have dire news today..." he began solemnly. "Humans have been spotted on our territory, taking trees down and destroying the forest." The crowd gasped, and they all started talking to each other hurriedly. "But we can scare them away!" Venus howled. "They'll run as soon as we attack." Pandora was wet, injured and defeated. Her brother sat next to her, similar emotions coursing through his body. "They... They're all gone..." Pandora whispered. "The attack failed." Apollo nodded solemnly. Only a day ago had their pack lead an attack against the humans, and nearly every one of them had been k!lled brutally. The siblings were the last survivors, running through the trees before the vicious dogs could catch them. They were homeless now, hiding in caves and tunnels to survive the nights and hunting whatever prey they could find. Eventually, they had left the territory completely and were on a journey to find a new home. They only had each other after the assault, so they naturally stayed together at all times. "Do you think there's more packs out there?" Apollo said quietly. "Maybe..." "They might let us live with them, we're wolves too." "Maybe..." Pandora sighed. "There isn't hope for us, is there?" The two looked at each other silently, both thinking the same thoughts. "Don't worry, I'll always be there for you, Pandora." Apollo chimed. "After all, I'm still your big brother." "Even though The Pack of Stars is gone?" "Yes."
