POLE VAULT SIMULATOR ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Press space to start your run. Then, press and hold space to jump. Stop pressing space to turn and throw your pole back. You can press R to reset during your run, but once you start your jump, you can't reset. You can move the bar forward and backward with the arrow keys. You get points every time you make a jump, and lose points every time you miss one. When you get up to a certain amount of points, you level up. This amount increases as you go. Upgrades: Grip: as your grip gets higher, you are able to go higher on your jump Requirements: to get to a new grip level, you need at least that same level of speed and game level (to get grip to level 4, you need at least level 4 speed, and at least game level 4). You will also need a certain amount of points, this amount increases as you go. Speed: run is faster, but you need it to get grip upgrades Requirements: at least that same game level (to get speed to level 4, you need at least game level 4), and a certain amount of points. This amount will increase as you go. When you get an upgrade, it deducts points, but it doesn't affect how many points you need before you level up. The bar height will start at 5' go up by 6" (5 coordinates) each time you make it to a new height. As you get higher up, your points per success increase.
The username block is just to make it so that I can't get the highscore. I do that for all of my projects. I'm working on making mobile controls. My best score is 31', with 16 total misses. My record in real life is 13', with 3 total misses. I think I'm a lot better in the simulated version :) The world record in real life is 6.24 meters (20 feet 5.67 inches) The high score will randomly reset every once in awhile (it has a 1/12000 chance to do it each time the flag is pressed). This is so that more people can get the highscore. Some pole vault terminology that may or may not be helpful to this game: Grip: how high on the pole you are holding. The higher you hold, the better you do, but you need to be able to build up speed to do this. Also, you need to work your way up the pole, not just start holding at the top. Standards: the two things that hold up the bar. They can be moved forward and back, from 18" to 31.5" Miss: failure, when you aren't successful at making it over the bar Run: your running start Runway: a strip of track that you use for your running start Step: where you start, affects which foot you jump off of. You want to jump off of your non-dominant foot Box: 8" deep, wedge-shaped hole in the ground, where you want to put your pole when you do your jump. Pit: the mat that you land on after your jump Scoring: In pole vault, you get three attempts at each height. If you make the height, you move on to the next one. If you don't make it during your three attempts, you are eliminated. The last person remaining wins. If there is a tie, the tiebreaker is total misses. Credits: Me: Coding, art, typing out the credits :), etc. You: Playing the game Scratch: existing so that I can actually make this game If you find a bug, please tell me in the comments Thanks for playing!!!! Check out my other amazing game: Check out a pole vault physics calculator with much better animation: vault & field why are you down here? This game has an easter egg in it If you find it, comment what it does. You can look at the code for this project to see how to find it, but it would be cheating PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT HOW TO FIND IT. If you do that comment will be deleted
