You've probably heard someone, somewhere, wether it was your friend, a youtuber, or a random person in a online chat. But many people don't know what the wombo combo actually is. This is the story of a legend. This is the story of the Wombo Combo.
To tell the story of the Wombo Combo, we need to first tell the story of Super Smash Bros Melee, or ssbm for short. SSBM was made by Nintendo in 2001. It was the second ever Smash Bros game, but it is still played competetively to this day. One of the most dominant Melee players, who is retired now, was Zhu. The character that Zhu used the most was Falco. One day, at a Melee tournament in December 2008, the Wombo Combo was born. Zhu was 1v2ing 2 players, a Captain Falcon and a Fox performed the Wombo Combo. The Captain Falcon was SilentSpectre, and the Fox was Tang. The combo began when Zhu's teammate died. The Wombo Combo started out when Fox(Tang) grabbed Zhu. Then Captain Falcon(SilentSpectre) did a jab attack on Zhu, to jablock and get him out of grab. Then Captain Falcon grabbed, and did a down throw. Fox did an Up Smash, which launched Zhu far enough for Captain Falcon to grab. Then Captain Falcon did a pivot grab, and used back throw, straight into Fox's Up Tilt, to launch Zhu offstage, which gave Captain Falcon the chance to run, jump off the stage, and use his forward air(the knee) to finish Zhu off and win the tournament. The whole time during the combo, the commentators ,HomeMadeWaffles, along with his friend Phil, and one of the 5 "Gods of Melee", Mang0, were saying: "Happy Feet! Wombo Combo! That ain't Falco! That ain't fa- OHHHHHH OOOOHHHHHH!!! Back then commentating for Melee was much different than it is now. The commentators used to be extremely loud, and would frequently trash talk both players. But little did they know that that one moment would soon become one of the most memorable moments in Melee History, and arguably all of Smash Bros and even gaming history itself. Well, thats it. That was the story of the legend itself, still talked about over a decade later, the Wombo Combo.
