~Chapter 1~ (present-day before prologue) C'mon Adrien, you got this. Today is the day you confess your ultimate affection to Ladybug. It's the perfect day, right? The sun is shining, no one has been akumatized, I aced my science quiz, if the world is this happy then nothing bad can happen. Boy, was I wrong. "Hey, Milady! Ready for patrol?" I ask, plopping down next to her. "Yeah, let's just get this over with." She says with a sigh. "Everything alright?" I question her, trying to figure out her train of thought. She lets out a heavy breath. "Yeah, I just didn't have the best day." "Is there anything you want to tell me?" I asked hoping it wasn't anything serious. She turns away from me, "I don't want to burden you with my problems, Cat." "Listen to me. Your problems are never a burden, Bugaboo." I tell her, hoping she would be able to tell that there is not one ounce of joking in my voice. "It's just that I managed to fail a test today, that I'd been studying for weeks for. And there is this girl who lies all the time, and somehow managed to get me detention for the rest of the week. Plus you know, I'm the guardian of the miracle box and such, so that takes a toll on a teenager." "Milady, I am so sorry. I had no idea." I tell her, hoping it will somehow comfort her. "No Cat, I'm sorry. I didn't want to burden you with my life problems when you probably have your own." I feel my heartache with guilt. Didn't I just tell myself a few moments ago that my life was going really well? "Can we just try to get this patrol over with as fast as possible?" She asks, and I can tell that is all she really wants right now. "Whatever you want Milady," I say with a jokingly bow. I see her lips curl into a weak smile and somehow I know that there is way more going on in her life than she is letting on. We swing off of the building trying to make this the shortest patrol of a lifetime. But somehow I know that this is going to be the longest.
