Sure, the Atlantic was maniacally active in 1995, but the Western Pacific itself was also having an incredibly intense year. After the likes of Typhoon Oscar in Japan, following by Ryan, Sibyl, and Zack as well, no one was really prepared for what the next storm would bring. Typhoon Angela remains one of the worst storms in the history of the Philippines, and remains one of the most powerful tropical cyclones ever recorded (via my estimate). Very few storms have bested Angela in it's sheer power, and here's to hope we never get another storm like Angela ever again. To no one's surprise, Angela was indeed retired after the season, but given that new lists were brought in for 1996 anywho, Angela was never given a proper replacement.
