Chapter 4 is now out!!!
“Crystalpaw! Crystalpaw!” Crystalpaw felt a rush of excitement as they called her new name. She was an apprentice now, finally she would get to help her clan. After the ceremony she quickly hurried over to her new mentor, Pebbledew. “Don’t worry, we will start your training tomorrow, enjoy your first day as an apprentice!” He meowed kindly, but Crystalpaw felt a bit disappointed. She had been waiting for this day her whole life and now she had to wait yet another day. “I’m proud of you.” Echoed a soft voice behind her. “Flintstem!” She purred as she noticed the gray tom. “I wish you could’ve been my mentor.” Crystalpaw said wistfully. Flintstem had been like a father to her ever since he found her in the woods. “Well he’s my mentor. Not yours.” Snapped a sharp voice. Cherrypaw, even though she was only a few months older she was a lot taller, and a lot meaner. Crystalpaw felt a rush of jealousy that Tidestar, the leader of Riverclan, had appointed Cherrypaw as Flintstem’s apprentice. Flintstem gave a slight frown at his apprentice, but Cherrypaw didn’t take her blistering glare off of her. Crystalpaw felt herself shrink down hopelessly under her cruel glare. “Hey! Um Jewelpaw, right?” Crystalpaw turned around to see a bright orange tabby smiling at her, looking way to happy. “Um...It’s Crystalpaw.” She stammered, unsure why this cat was talking to her. “Oh.... are you sure it’s not Jewelpaw?” “Fairly certain.” Crystalpaw replied oddly. “Anyways I’m Vinepaw! You probably haven’t seen me around because I’m always out hunting with my mentor. Even in the rain, which is like super unfair.” Actually Crystalpaw had seen this overly enthusiastic cat before, getting yelled at by her mentor for not paying attention. Vinepaw was actually a lot older then she was, even older then Cherrypaw and her brother Bumblepaw. “Something tells me we are going to be the best of friends! I just know it.” Crystalpaw blinked. What? Didn’t she just literally meet this cat? She turned her attention from Vinepaw’s non stop talking, to a figure that was just barely crouched by the sparkling water of the river. The strange cat’s cold blue eyes and dark pelt that seemed to shimmer in the light of the sun. There was no reflection in the river of this cat, and again Crystalpaw felt the odd sense of fear and longing. It was the cat from her dreams. “So I told Bumblepaw that he was just being boring and then he got mad at me! Isn’t that super unfair!” Vinepaw continued. “Mhm...” Crystalpaw mumbled, barely listening. She turned her attention back to the cat, it turned and slowly began to pad away. “I have to go.” She announced sharply, interrupting Vinepaw mid sentence. Crystalpaw took off after the spot were she had seen the cat. Where did she go! Her eyes searched the surrounding area for any sign of the cat’s dark gray pelt. There! Between those two alder trees! She ran as fast as her legs could carry her as the cat began to turn away into the entrance of the forest nearby. Crystalpaw got to the spot by the two towering trees but the cat was gone. The thick sent of Thunderclan filled the area here. She was at the border and the cat was standing on the other side watching her. “Thunder means death Thunder means life, the North is a horrible place to go yet you must go or all is lost.” She whispered and then she was gone. “Wait! Come back! Please tell me what you mean!” Crystalpaw called out into the empty air but as usual there was no response except for the howling of the wind.
