Note: This project involves multiple topics and does not fit into one single category like all of the previous projects here do so far. Have you ever wondered, what if all religions are the same? What if we just believe the same things in different ways? I don't know a whole lot about world religions outside what I've learned in history classes, me being a Christian for Christianity, and some external research, and I am definitely looking forward to learning more about other world religions, but from what I have seen already, they are all too similar to be completely separate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Hinduism essentially has a trinity, much like Christianity. In Hinduism, at least to the best of my knowledge, followers believe that there are many gods, but all one under Brahman, much like how the trinity in Christianity involves three different forms of the same God as well. I'm pretty sure that Hinduism even includes a human incarnation as well, like Jesus in Christianity. Zoroastrianism has fallen from being a major world religion, but it too is very similar to many religions. From research, I found out that there are 101 names of God in Zoroastrianism, and I was curious and I looked through them all, and found that all of them fit exactly with the Christian God, who I believe in personally. And what really got me was that one of the names translates to "forgiver of sins," something I thought was only in Christianity. And of course, we know that all of the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) are all mostly the same, with just a few differences. But look at the values of all of the major world religions, and tell me they are too different to be different forms of the same thing. Why else would all religions say that murder is wrong, or even include more abstract concepts such as marriage? There are so many similarities between all of the major world religions, but there are also differences. But the question is, are the differences enough to overshadow the truth within the similarities between all religions? I think not. The values of all major religions are essentially the same, and nearly all (besides Buddhism, but Buddhism is considered more of a belief system than a religion) include a higher power. These are the core tenets of all religions, and really are what make the difference, although the way these core tenets are portrayed may differ between religions. As a Christian, I believe in a loving God, but remember, only the Israelites knew Judaism at the time, and why would a loving God only let a few people know the truth? Unless everyone did know the truth, just in a different way. My view of it is, all religions are a piece to the puzzle of the truth. And piecing together this puzzle might also help clear up any distortions added through people in power being greedy and changing things, or even things lost in translation. Though, let's not forget about atheism either. Atheism looks at the natural side of the truth, in my opinion, while religions look at the spiritual side. Buddhism can also fit along atheism in this as well. Overall, with all of the similarities between religions and belief systems, I see no way they could be separate and completely different. And don't get me wrong, there are some man-made religions as well, like cults. These man-made religions do have different values, usually destructive in the case of cults, but all world religions are rooted in truth in my opinion. So, what if we all believe the same things, just in different ways? Why do we still fight over religion in this case? Look at the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, or even look in history to the Crusades. So much violence has been committed in the name of religion, but what's the point of this if we all really believe the same thing? There is one answer to this in my opinion: There is none. With this project, I'm going to do something new though. I want to start a movement of acceptance and unity if possible, letting us all know we're more alike than we are different, including on the basis of religion.
