This took me about a week- bdhsnfbrnmsd :D ---- Ayy, here's an art tutorial/informational project about whitewashing in art! A really irritating thing. That happens a lot- --- ✩ Vocabulary ✩ ⇢ Whitewashing: When a character of a different race is made to have more Eurocentric features or traits. ⇢ Eurocentric Features: Features that are more European, like lighter skin, smaller lips, slim faces, and sharp jawlines. ⇢ Afrocentric Features: Features that are typically associated with African Americans, like bigger lips, a wider nose, and darker skin. --- ✩Tutorials✩ Look, a tutorial about dreadlocks by @add-some-color! https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/508502962/ Wow, a wild kinky hair tutorial by @XeZe! https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/485179810/ What's that?? A curly hair tutorial by @codercorn4?? https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/435438349/ Gotcha! I caught another lit art tutorial by @SapphyXRuby! https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/555445231 Tell me if you know of any other good tutorials for drawing people who aren't Eurocentric!! <3 --- Note on Blackwashing: Yes, it's a thing that happens. I'm aware. Blackwashing is when a character who is Eurocentric, is drawn to be more Afrocentric (usually in these cases, a character is drawn with a darker skin tone). Honesty, I understand why people do it. There's a severe lack of rep in the media, so we have to make our own. I'd prefer it if we celebrate Black creators and characters, instead of redesigning old stuffs, but I overall feel kinda indifferent about Blackwashing. --- Song: Escapism, from Steven Universe (Sung by Rebecca Sugar <3) --- More tag thingys, why has no one told me what these do ;-; /nm
