Arizona Twilight is a young cat who enjoys spending his freetime in the woods. He was separated from his mother when his owners house caught on fire, and she was killed in the accident. He will never forget the hungry flames and the sickening ash as they enveloped all he had left in the world. He now explores the woods in anticipation of finding his mother, still believing she breathes and is well, but that is not so. He got rehomed after the fire, and was exploring his new neighborhood when he got jumped by a gang of alley cats, and boy did they do a number on him. Ever since then, he was jittery and fearful of everything, having a suspicious look in his eye at every encounter. His new humans abandoned him, leaving him alone once again, which set him off to find his mother, and he wasn't going to take a few short hours just to give up like he used to, he was determined to find her. Everyone had left him, but she was forced away from him. It wasn't her choice, right? He spent weeks in search for her, growing thinner every passing day, his tail twitching at every sound, and getting less hopeful every nightfall. Finally he came across an old abandoned barn. Exhausted from his journey he settled down there and had a few mice, and took a long nap. He woke up to find a plump tortoiseshell sitting with her tail wrapped around her paws, gazing at him with interest. "Gahhh!" He leaped up his hackles rising and his body shaking with fear. She looked at him in concern, "Wow! Your quite the skinny one." She sized him up once again, studying his rusty coat. "You're probably pretty hungry, I'll get you something to eat." She hurried off and left him standing there, upright with tension until she came back with two, nice, plump mice. She nosed them over to him, "Here. Have a bite." He reluctantly ate it up, and didn't regret it. "I'm Feather, by the way." She said gleefully. He looked at her. "Arizona Twilight" He settled down in his makeshift nest. She tilted her head, "What about it?" he looked up at her "Huh?" He asked, looking around nervously. With realization, his eyes widened. "Oh! Th-thats my name..." He meowed self-consciously. She flicked her tail aside, "Well that's a lovely and original name." He smiled at her, happy to have someone as company. He began to tell her about his quest, and his whole life story. After he was finished, he was surprised to see her looking shocked and impressed, rather than bored or ignorant. He was actually surprised to see she was still there. "You braved that all by yourself? Wow! What a tough cat!" They shared many stories with each other, and after a few nights, he decided to set off again. She wouldn't let him leave, unless she came along with him. He accepted, eager to have a friend along on his journey, and they traveled together after that, until they reached his old home. He saw nothing but big dirt mounds and huge yellow machines. His grief and acceptance finally settled in after being pushed out for so long. Now that he had seen it, he new, she was really gone. "Its okay mama, I'm getting off just fine now, and I really miss you, but it's all okay now. I've got a friend and I am ready to take action. I'm ready to stop hoping, and start doing. Goodbye mama." He whispered at the sky above him. Feather rested her tail on his shoulder, and they turned around and headed back to the forest, with the sun rising behind them, it was the start of a new day, and a new life. ____________ Thanks for reading my incredibly long disaster lol Thank you for hosting this and for the art. No, I didn't forget the codeword.
