Metal against metal, chime against chime, amulets and bangles and strings of coins strewn like festival streamers flung over branches paint a serene, otherworldly party. Nestled up among the magic lies Anthea. Anthea, the god of harmony and destiny, granter of wishes, patron of luck and chance, in all their gleaming color. Legends say this fox appeared right after the beginning of time. When this world was created, the sun and moon spirits wept with joy. Their powerful tears fell upon the first forest and Anthea grew to life. Anthea is the fire of the sun and the lull of the moon, the warmth of gold and shine of silver, sweet and bitter, fight and flight, life and death. Anthea is balance, and the peace that comes with it; the absolute certainty of fate meant to be. Anthea, a god, but living on the land. I mean, who wouldn't want to live here? The glade is overshadowed by a massive tree that would block out the sun if it weren't for its light foliage and branching structure, which allows beams of light to pierce their ways right on to the grass far below. The harmony god resides in these boughs, lounging under shifting leaf shadows and surrounded by wind-made song. Wind chimes of all shapes and sizes and sounds decorate the entire tree- you can hear them from miles away. They were laid at the shrine at the roots, where the god themself took them to decorate. Wanderers from all over take detours to the shrine to pay their respects and pray for wishes come true. Anthea is known to enjoy shimmering objects; jewelry is a favorite, so what isn't laid at the shrine is often thrown far up into the branches to spin in the sunbeams. Prisms, bracelets- really anything shiny is a welcome ornament. Speaking of shiny, Anthea's key trait is from their origins. The celestial tears that formed them show in their hind legs, tails, paw pads, ear tips, and head; usually taking shape in a semi-liquid way. But the gleaming colors can freeze like crystal or melt like mercury, depending on needs- but this is rare. Mostly, when you can get a sight of this elusive god, the tears lazily bubble and drift like dreamy lava lamps. The crystalline "wishing stars" that occasionally fall from the top of the tree also appear to be made out of the same solution. They gather at the roots in small piles, waiting to be picked up by travelers and brought home as a lucky souvenir- believed to bring good fate and grant wishes, they're strung from eaves and hung in windows in towns all across the lands. Often, they spin as the centerpiece to wind chimes; bringing the hopeful sound of the sacred tree far and wide. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- if i had a nickel for every time i'd drawn a deity character with liquid hind legs for a dtae, i'd have two nickels, which is weirdly specific? also if i had a nickel for every time i used this expression in a project i'd also have two nickels. things keep happening in double lately pff (i might update this entry in the future- i'll reshare if i do!! ^^) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Art by me Design/dta by Music: Passerine by the Oh Hellos (go read the fic based off this song btw, it's legit stunning ok) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
