Sophie was wiping her tears when a tiny blue crystal fragment fell out of the envelope. She picked it up. “Huh?” Then she realized it was a fragment of the crystal Keefe had likely used to light leap. She thought back to a few days ago. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- “As Regents, we have a classified secret for you.” said Councillor Emery. “It is about the worldwide pathfinder recall last week.” said Councillor Oralie. “We have placed a tracking chip in all pathfinders. It tracks the recent places the pathfinder has leaped to.” said Emery. “We wanted you to be aware of this new development, as you are our strongest Regents.” said Bronte. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sophie jumped. She grabbed her Imparter and practically shouted, “Show me Dex Dizznee!” His rumpled face filled her screen almost instantly. She shouted into the imparter, “DEX DEX DEX!” He responded with a worried “What?” “No time to explain! Just get to Havenfield as fast as you can!” “Ooookaaaaay. . . . . “ Five minutes later, Sophie heard the doorbell ring. “COMING!” she shouted to Dex. As she opened the door, he said, “Now what was so important that you were shouting ‘DEX DEX DEX!’ at me?” “You remember when the Council told us about these pathfinder modifications?” “Yeah, what’s your point?” She showed him the letter, saying “I found a fragment of a blue crystal in the envelope, will you help me track the leap?” “Of course!” he said after reading the letter. “Keefe shouldn’t have left anyways!” “Great, now that we’re agreed on that, follow me up to my room and I’ll get you the crystal!” said Sophie. In her room, she showed him the crystal. He said, “It’ll take a few hours, but I think I’ll be able to crack it.” “Take all the time you need!” said Sophie. *TIME SKIP* “Phew! I cracked it!” said Dex a few hours later. “So, where’s the leap to?” Sophie asked. Dex turned toward her, and with a somber (and slightly confused) face, said, “Hollywood.”
