➭ What is SWC? SWC, or Scratch Writing Camp, is a triannual virtual writing camp. It runs for the months of March, July and November. Each participant chooses a word goal for themselves, and tries to reach that by the end of camp. There's also a competitive aspect with cabin points (there are currently 15 cabins - you'll be in one of them), and there will be activities such as character development or writing using creative limitations that you can complete for points. The camp runs from the 1st of July to the 31st of July and it's entirely online - so you can be there 5 minutes or 3 hours a day, at any time. (Not my description XD) ➭ Why should I join? SWC is a super fun event for the writer in you. You’ll get to meet lots of people throughout the Scratch community(some of your favorite Scratchers even participate!) and will learn a lot. You will go out of your comfort zone, writing something you might not usually write or just sharing your writing. Everyone who runs SWC is really friendly and caring so it might just help brighten up your day. Overall, you will become a better writer! Please join!!! ➭ What is the point of the cabins? The main cabin is the camp headquarters. It is where the hosts and leaders add all of the points for each individual cabin. These are the points that you will get from various activities around camp(I will explain those activities more.) The 15 individual genre cabins are where you add the words that you write. Your (co)leaders might have some fun activities in there as well :D You don’t have to write in the genre of your cabin though. ➭What counts for words? Most things that are literary writing pieces should count. Things that don’t count are texting, non-complete sentences, notes, and random letters. Things like school work will count. If you aren’t sure, just ask someone!!! ➭ What are some of the activities that I will get to participate in? Here are some of the activities you can participate in to get points-dailies, weeklies, word wars, cabin wars, and the writing competition. If you would like to learn more about these activities, feel free to ask me or just check out this awesome faq by @piatu: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/534559459 Credits: All art is by me in Procreate All code is by me Everything is in no specific order Thank you to all the leaders and co-leaders this session!!!
