Prologue `~` Veiled Secrets

➸ Prologue ❥ Veiled Secrets ❥ This is the prologue to a story I am writing. It is a little introductory to the characters and to the story. I will be posting 1 chapter at a time, and hopefully I will be able to post a chapter each week, but we will see. Without further ado, here it is. ✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂✂ First, I will start by introducing some of our main characters. We will start with Ash. They are a male, two-tailed kitsune with a mixed personality. They enjoy the rain and love to drink coffee, especially lattes, in the mornings in order to wake them up. He has two black, short horns on his head, which he can use to ram into things as well as other people/animals. He plays one of the lead roles in the story. One of his best friends is Cody, a soft, mellow pup with a short, fish-like tail. Cody will play as an important side character in this story, no more information on this character is provided as of yet. Another one of our main characters is Lokael, or Loki, as his friends call him. Lokael is half-angel, half-demon and he has two very different personalities that are completely separate from each other. As far as his friends know, he can turn fully angel if he feels he needs to. When he first turns to his angel form he is very weak and vulnerable for about 5 minutes, then he gains tremendous strength which he keeps for around 2 hours. After those two hours are up, he must return to his regular form. Now we come to the last character I will be introducing here, Tsuki. Tsuki is one the most mysterious characters in the book. There are rumors that she can give life to people, and can take it away just as easily. We aren't completely sure what she plays exactly in the story, but she is important to the story nonetheless. Now that we are done introducing some of our characters, lets start the actual prologue part of this. I suppose the rest was just a little introduction. Ash was sitting in his dorm room studying for his biology exam when he felt something rub against his leg. He took off his headphones and looked down to see a calico kitten staring up at him. He was a little surprised as he had never seen that cat before, and knew it wasn't his or his roommates'. "W-what the.." he said to himself as he reached down to pick up the kitten. He put them on his lap and stroked it gently. It was the softest cat he had ever felt. It nuzzled his hand and he kissed its forehead. He got up and walked over to his bed and got a few soft quilts to make it a little bed. He was beginning to get very attached to the small creature. {ding ding} The high-pitched bell rang to signify that somebody opened the door. Ash turned around to see who he assumed to be his new roommate. To his surprise, it was a girl that looked about the age 17. She had brunette pigtails and wore an oversized brown sweater. "Hiya there!" she said in a cheerful voice that had a tint of an Australian accent. "Hey." said Ash as his eyes followed her to the top bunk, where she set down her stuff. "By the way, uh, who are you?" he said with a questioning glare. "Oh, sorry 'bout that, I guess I kinda' just barged in here. The names' Veronica. I'm your new roommate I suppose." She replied in a casual tone. "Since when do they let girls and guys bunk together in the dorms?" Ash asked, now slightly concerned. "You're a boy?" Veronica asked, attempting to stop the laughter from spilling from her lips. "Yes--yes I am...I know they wouldn't let a girl and a guy bunk together, so why are you here?" Ash said, now he was irritated. "Well," she said as she pulled out some papers from her pocket, "says here I'm supposed to be bunking with--" she read off the name Ashley Rubinson. "Oh, and here is a picture of her." Veronica said as she handed over the papers to Ash. "Ashley Rubinson? That's not my name..." Ash said, now very concerned and confused. "Well, that picture sure looks a' like a' you. You don't have to lie you know? I ain't no roach." Veronica said, her tone sounded hurt. "No, I'm not lying, that isn't my name. My name is Ash. Just, Ash." he replied swiftly. "Well, do you think you have some sorta' doppelganger that just so happens to have the same name and face as you?" They eventually went to the person in charge of student dorms and got it all sorted out. The only thing was, there was no Ashley Rubinson in the system. So the question remained in Ash's head, 'did he have a doppelganger?' he wondered, and 'how did they get my picture, or at least the picture of somebody who looked exactly like me....'
