Planning sounds really boring, but it’s very important if you want your drawing to look good, and I’m not talking full on researching or that crap, I mean just picking out a color palette, or a pose, or a character that you want to draw. If you're just doodling then ofc you don’t have to do this step, but I like to. Step two: sketching. Once you have what you’re going to draw planned out, you can start the sketch. My sketches are normally very, very messy, and my example still is, but I tried to clean it up a bit for this lol, idk why XD Step three: line art. Once I’ve made the changes that I want to my sketch, I start the line art. I like to experiment with the brushes that I use for this, but with Procreate a lot of the more interesting ones are harder to color because you can’t drag and drop color, so for my example I’m just using the studio pen. Also I normally use black for the line art, but sometimes I also like to experiment with that too and use dark blues and browns. Step four: color. Coloring might be my favorite part of the whole process, it’s just so fun to pick out the palette and ever since I got really into shading, (even though I’m still not the best lol) it’s just so fun with faces. I sort of regret the palette that I used when I created my main OC, LlamaGirl but I mean, as non aesthetically pleasing as it is, it’s still cool enough. Then I’m done!
