He had only found out he had the shine after being there. He saw visions of terrible things but no one ever believed him. He saw these things even after he left the hotel. He left traumatized and confused. He never got himself any help because he didn't think anyone would believe him. He is at a very dark point in his life because the trauma is becoming too much to deal with. He doesn't get much sleep because of nightmares and even when he's awake he sees the things from the hotel, mostly when he is in his apartment building. He avoids most people and doesn't really talk to anyone anymore. He has very severe anxiety that relates to the trauma he went through and often feels as though he's being chased or followed which also has something to do with what he went through at the hotel.
