Estimates by me may differ from official reports - Typhoon Vamco (Named Ulysses by PAGASA) was powerful and deadly typhoon in November 2020. Vamco started off in the Philippine sea and intensified significantly into a high end category 2, when it struck Luzon. The storm then weakened to a category 1 as it entered the South China Sea, where it maintained category 1 intensity. Despite being in a rather unfavorable environment, Vamco intensified into a category 4, as it neared Vietnam. The storm then began to weaken as it paralleled the coast of Vietnam. A significantly weakened Vamco made landfall along the northern coast of the country as a tropical storm (although typhoon force winds might have been felt in Vietnam as the storm paralleled the coast). The storm then moved inland and weakened. Vamco brought major impacts to Luzon, which was experiencing typhoon-force winds for the third time in less than a month. Most of the damage came from the widespread flooding that impacted the area, although damaging winds also caused significant impacts. A large part of the area was without power following the storm. Although Vamco had weakened significantly by the time it struck Vietnam, the storm still caused flooding, and the area was still recovering from major to catastrophic flooding from several other storms. - Tags: #Scratchmaster295 #TropicalCyclone #Hurricane #Typhoon #Meteorology #TyphoonVamco #Vamco
