busy rn but when i get back get ready for a looong description <3 *claps* okay guys, gals, and non-binary pals, welcome to my little LGBTQIA+ talk! It’s June now, and that means Pride Month! We’re here to celebrate all the people of this community for who they are! :D Unfortunately, every day, people of the LGBTQIA+ are discriminated, abused, and even kicked out of their homes for being... well, just who they are. People have excuses for this, whether it be from your religion or just not finding “normal”, but let me just say, there’s a difference between being a mean homophobe and a homophobe. -What is a homophobe? A homophobe is someone who does not support the LGBTQIA+ community. Some homophobes don’t support, while other homophobes not only don’t support but they actively discriminate against the community. Even LGBTQIA+ members can be homophobic to each other! ( A fact I learned from @TEEJIO ) There are many different types of sexualities and genders in the LGBTQIA+ community, and I think it’s important to understand that there *are* genders other than male and female. @TEEJIO also suggested that I try and name some sexualities and descriptions of each, so I’d love if all of you tell me about your sexualities and what they mean! I’m going to try and do everyone so no one is left out, so please make sure to drop some stuff in the comments! (This is me speaking in my own words, so it’s pretty simple- make sure to check some informational studios for more info on the topic!) Lesbian- girls being attracted to girls Gay- guys being attracted to guys (though it's also an umbrella term for anyone attracted to the same gender as themselves) Bisexual- someone being attracted to both girls and boys Transgender- being assigned a gender at birth but identifying with another Queer- Aromantic- having little or no interest in being attracted to someone Pansexual- someone being attracted to people of all genders Nonbinary- A gender neither male nor female Agender- Not identifying as any gender at all I found some awesome information and support studios, so I’ll link some right here: Informational Studio: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/27144792/ Hangout and Support Studio: The description will continue to be filled throughout June, as I can’t finish it quickly, just as the fact Rome wasn’t built in a day. I am in fact a straight ally, and you can be too! You don’t have to participate in peaceful protests or give big speeches, but you can let others know you accept them for who they are. I am not, in fact, an expert on this kind of stuff, so I would really appreciate feedback and comments if I got something wrong- everyone makes mistakes sometimes. :)
