*** FULLSCREEN WILL SAVE THE QUALITY RIP I uploaded my traditional sketch and colored it digitally :D I used procreate, my iPad Air 4, and a Logitech crayon I’m saving up for an Apple Pencil tho because I need to for line art lol my other lineart looked-
Art - me All the digital artists out there please tell me what layers and like in what order do u use them to color and like if you use stuff like alpha lock and clipping mask to color, please give me a whole rountinue you do lmbo it’s so confusing I need helps tysm! :0 ppls help: @-butterwaffle- Ooh yess congrats! I’ll try to do my best to explain :’) Usually I have the lineart layer at the very top and then at the bottom I start with the skin color, and work my way up through eyes, hair, etc. but you can always mess around with the layer order if you find something that works better for you! I use alpha lock for shading over one particular color, or if I’ve combined all the layers to render (which I do sometimes- not much posted on scratch yet tho) I’ll usually alpha lock the layer and then shade it however I need to. I’ll use clipping mask if there’s a color detail I only want to be connected to one layer, for example a pattern, a gold detail, or smth. I’ll then alpha lock that once I’m done to add highlights/shading/etc. Also random tip for blush, I like to use a pink color clipping mask over the skin layer. Set it to multiply, color where you want blush, and then lower your layer opacity cause then it’s even over the skin shading! Although if you’re ever really confused the there are a lot of really helpful YouTube tutorials you can watch to help with figuring out layers! Since it can be a bit confusing starting digital art :) I think there are actually only three main brushes I use. The only default brush is the “medium hard blend” brush (under airbrushes) I like to use this for gradients, glowy lighting stuff, etc. Just make sure if you’re using it to add on to the color you set the layer to alpha lock first. The other two brushes are from here: https://gumroad.com/l/JingsketchBrushes it’s a free brush pack btw ;) You just gotta give them an email so they can send it to you. I use the “sketch round” brush for my sketches, or for smaller details, and the “round render” brush for coloring, shading, etc. Also I forgot to mention I also have the “medium hard blend” brush as my blending and eraser tool! :) (all of these are at default settings as well) Hopefully this sort of makes sense? Ahaha :’D Oh nice! I can’t wait to see your digital art :D Also this is kind of random but if you’re ever trying to figure out a process that works for you, I find watching YouTube speedpaints to be very useful! Just make sure you find the ones where you can see what colors they’re picking, layer settings, etc. cause then you can learn from the process! I have this, but it probably won’t really help because it’s lifeless art XD I just remembered I have this from a while ago on my old account, but it’s in my old art style which has lineart and I actually did it from a traditional drawing XD (I used procreate for both of them) also use curves, sharpen, chromatic aberration and colored noise after you finish for filter things XD it just makes the art look (+)
