Chapter 3 -- Sophie Foster When Sophie awakened, everything hurt. Her chest, her arms, her legs, and especially her head. The pounding rhythm made her nauseous. When she looked around, she recognized the room she was in. The Healing Center? Why was she here, of all places? Why did her head still pound, even if she was in the healing center, where Eldwin would be fussing over her, treating her as if you couldn’t take care of herself? Where was Eldwin? Sophie looked around more closely. ‘Wait,’ she thought. ‘This isn’t even the Healing Center…’ It wasn’t. This room had no windows, and its walls were the wrong color. She should know, of all people, since she had the records of emergency visits. What was really creepy was that the room itself was everything like the Healing Center, but it just wasn’t. Sophie tried to get up, but it was like her wrists and ankles were bound together… she looked down. Shackles chained her to an examination table, making her unable to get up. She looked closer at her bindings. With a gasp, she recognized them as the same bonds that Tam had been locked in when Lady Gisela had ordered him and Glimmer to give Keefe his new power. What was Sophie going to do?
