This is the first draft of a comic strip for Otter Time. This is by no means the final product. (More info below) Current un-edited script: ========================================= Otterlyn: 1 - Hello! I'm Otterlyn and today on new animal news I will be interviewing the Carolina Sandhills salamander! 2- So, can you tell us why you're here today? Sandhill: 3 - I'm the newest species of salamander to be recognized. I'm also North Carolina's 64th salamander species. Otterlyn: 4 - Wow! Can you tell us when you were discovered? Sandhill: 5 - I was first found in 1969, and was mistaken for an odd variation of the southern two-lined salamander, my cousin. It was in 2013 that I was confirmed to be a different species using DNA sequencing. I was described in 2020. Otterlyn: 6 - Would you tell us where you live? Sandhill: 7 - I live in wetlands, springs, and along blackwater streams in the Carolina Sandhill region. 8- If you're lucky you might find me under a damp log. Otterlyn: 9 - Alright! Anything else? Sandhill: 10 - I'm pretty elusive, due to my size and habitat. I think that's just about it... Otterlyn: 11 - Alright then! That's all for today on new animal news!
