"Oh, yeah! We're allies! Look at all the pride merch we're selling! If that doesn't scream allies, I don't know what does!" *goes and tells crew to cut the gay scene because of homophobic countries that are giving them a bit more money they don't really need* "Of course! Y'know, Dumbledore is actually gay and had a crush on that one guy in that one scene!" *goes online and posts this whole horrible transphobic rant in the middle of pride month in the middle of a global pandemic* Disney and JK Rowling need to be stopped. At this point, they don't even care about people's feelings anymore. They just want money. Let's start with Disney. Alex Hirsch (creator of Gravity Falls) posted a comment recently, calling out Disney for their capitalism. Because, at the end of the day, that's what it is. They're trying to make money off of teens by saying, "look at us! We are SO supportive! ThErE'S rOoM fOR EvERyoNE uNDeR tHE rAiNBoW!", and then immediately refusing to have gay scenes and whitewashing main characters. anger noises Ok, now JK Rowling. JK Rowling is doing this ridiculously weird thing that no-one wanted or asked for. After her series is done, she's retconning the books by telling us random things to include more minorities. And I wouldn't have a problem with this, but I do. Because, quite recently, JK Rowling said that Dumbledore had a thing going on with someone who's name I can never spell, and then (afterwards) not allowing there to be any hint of romance between the two. AND AND AND JK ROWLING HAD THE FLIPPING AUDACITY TO GO ONLINE AND POST A HUGE TRANSPHOBIC COMMENT IN THE MIDDLE OF PRIDE MONTH. But the thing that worries me is that tons of teens or children read her books, and follow her on social media etc. etc., and are heavily influenced by her behaviour. So many young people will see her doing this and think that it's okay. It's worrying and awful, because I already hear offensive slurs being thrown around. sorry for the huge rant
