This is quite random- ? oh well. what an interesting first project. Also I apologize if I offended you; please give me your opinion in the comments if you disagree. So, most people probably know who Dr. Seuss, the writer/illustrator of many beloved children's books like The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham, etc etc. What I've found that most people do not know is what he did during ww2. Dr. Seuss was quite... supportive of the internment of the people living in America that had Japanese Ancestry. He actually made a lot of political cartoons concerning them. These cartoons were very racist. He made the Japanese look stereotypically insulting, with slanted eyes and a face that looks a lot like a chipmunk to the extreme. If that wasn't bad enough, he drew political cartoons of things like Japanese Americans waiting in line to get bombs and for the 'signal' from Japan. In another one, a Japanese man and Hitler asking each other "what have you done to save your country from them??" Absolutely disgusting, in my opinion. He did apologize (?) by writing the book Horton Hears a Who and talking about how everyone is human and equal. Honestly, I feel like this wasn't enough for all that he did (encouraging racism and caging human beings for a few years for something someone else did, they just happen to have the same skin color) but at least it was a start...
sorry for ruining your childhood, i- Some of his cartoons: https://www.google.com/search?q=dr+seuss+ww2+cartoons+japanese&sxsrf=ALeKk02r-cqfE1cOeY-i3DOXP8yeZZ0tAw:1624469307290&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwim_ojgo67xAhUnGFkFHccLDtwQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1440&bih=766#imgrc=iBjcUi2zA-F7GM https://www.google.com/search?q=dr+seuss+ww2+cartoons+japanese&sxsrf=ALeKk02r-cqfE1cOeY-i3DOXP8yeZZ0tAw:1624469307290&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwim_ojgo67xAhUnGFkFHccLDtwQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1440&bih=766#imgrc=pcMeLtTel4P5sM
