Hello! This is the first part of a monthly "podcast" called Tapu News. Tapu News will consist of informational facts relating to the current day, year, month, or season, with a few bad puns at the end! My apologies for the weird voice, I didn't want to record a lot so I used text to speech :P If you would like, I have included the script below if you prefer to read it. CC: Hello! Welcome to the October edition of Tapu News, a new montly podcast! CC: It is the month of October now. It is the month of Halloween, which many people celebrate. CC: Halloween is derived from the ancient celtic festival, Samhain (Sow-in). CC: The Celtic people believed that on October 31st, ghosts returned to the earth, so during Samhain, the people would light bonfires and dress up in costumes to ward off ghosts. CC: In the 8th century, the day after Samhain was called "All Saints Day", which led to October 31st being referred to as "All Hallows Eve", which led to the name Halloween. CC: The traditions celebrated on Samhain evolved into customs such as carving pumpkins, dressing up, and trick-or-treating. CC: Jack-o-lanterns come from an irish origin as well. They are based on the legend of Stingy Jack. CC: Jack stored a burning coal in a carved out turnip at the end of the story, which led to the jack-o-lantern's creation. The most Jack-o-lanterns on display is 30,581. CC: In October and the rest of Autumn, many seasonal plants grow, such as pumpkins, squashes, autumn crocuses, and cornflowers. CC: Did you know tapu enjoys corny seasonal jokes? We'll be ending today with a bunch of corn flavored puns CC: How do vampires get around on Halloween? On blood vessels. Why are graveyards so noisy? Because of all the coffin. What did the tree say to autumn? Please leaf me alone! CC: I hope you enjoyed this episode of the slightly informational, slightly strange podcast! See you next month!
