Chapter 6 -- Mallory Kane Mallory had always loved dances. She loved the decorations, the music, the lights, the scenery, and, of course, the dancing. And Mallory exceptionally loved the Ruewens’ parties. They were always extravagant and beautiful, always never failing to surprise her. It was always so magical, and the decorations were always so charming, that Mallory could never turn down the opportunity to go to the Ruenwen’s lively parties. Especially when she knew Valerie was going to be there… Valerie and her had been friends all their lives, never apart, and always finding curious ways to create trouble. Mallory had never thought of Valerie as more of a friend… but now she was. Mallory sighed, everything was so different and difficult now. Why couldn’t it just be easy? Mallory knocked on Edaline and Grady’s door, wondering if Valerie was there yet. A moment later, Edaline opened the door, hugging her and said she looked amazing. “Why don’t you take a seat while the rest of the guests come, and I’ll get some tea, too.” she said, and then, with a gleam in her eye, and slight curve of her mouth, she said, “And Valerie’s in the living room, if you want to chat.” She started to walk away, but turned back and added, “You know she loves you, too.”
