▷ b u t t e r w a f f l e ▷ Ackkk the thumbnail won’t work. Sorry for the reshare- im very confused rn.. Contest entry for @DonutAddic’s 200+ dmc!! Congrats on 200- now almost 600 Don!!! Your art is super amazing and inspiring, and you’re so professional :00 I changed some stuff from the original design- but I hope you like my entry!! tap/space/arrow keys to see the progress shots I was too lazy to draw something complicated soo.. weird style ig? I had a lot of fun making the drawing though~ Anatomy? Never heard of that.. Also watch me try to explain my process :’) ▷Sketch - Very rough sketch ahaha. It took me a while to get the pose and everything to where I wanted. I added the wings after cause I thought it would look cool I guess? ▷ Lineart - I did the lineart for separate parts on different layers. I don’t usually do this but I knew I wanted to blur the wings separately, and in order to do that, they’d have to be on a separate layer from everything else. The colors are just to help me differentiate the parts. ▷ I set the lineart to a warm brown color, and set the layer to “multiply” so it will blend with the colors better. ▷ Base colors for the character (done in a layer group) It usually takes me a lot of experimenting to get the color combos I want. ▷ Base colors for wings ▷ Switched the ghost lineart to white, and added white coloring, and then lowered the opacity. ▷ Shading - I just want to work on the character for now, so I’ve hidden the ghosts so I can just work on the character. For most shading I usually take a slightly darker, version of the original color, and shift it a tiny tiny bit towards blue to give it a cooler hue. Everything is done with the original color layers on alpha lock. ▷ More shading + highlights - I added one more color to the shading to make it darker, shifting the hue again a bit to make it more blue than the original shading color. I’ve also added blue highlights! I notice now I forgot to do it to the shoes as well and now they look weird haha ~ I also fixed the hand since it looked funny. ▷ Background and ghosts added! For the ghosts I gave them an opacity gradient, I also duplicated the white lineart layer and blurred the duplicate a little to make the ghosts look glowy. I also added a weird blobby background. ▷ Filters!! I just blurred some of the stuff, merged layers, and added some chromatic aberration for that good ol’ glitchy effect :D Idrk if this helped explain anything. I hope it did tho :’D I might do a more detailed project on my process in the future if people are interested. Please don’t use this art for anything. Unless you’re :) Also if anyone is interested in the brushes I use.. From this free brush pack: https://jingsketch.gumroad.com/l/JingsketchBrushes - Sketch Round (lineart/sketch/small details) Update: for the sketch round, I’ve changed the brush shape from the square thingy to a solid circle/round brush shape.
