“No” I said sternly, looking at the others in the room. The room was so silent, you could hear a pin drop. Some frowned, others glared, and some laughed in confusion, but none where not looking at me. “No? Your denying our generous offer?” The leader scowled, glaring at me. I stared at my feet, then at my friends looking at me, encouragingly. My gaze slowly drifted back to him. “I’m sorry, it’s just, I don’t think I want to join your um... group, even though you promise me money.” I said, my voice a bit shaky. Zeus didn’t seem to happy to hear my answer, and he didn’t look like he’d let me go without a good reason. “I’m honored and everything but I don’t want to, um you know... leave my friends behind and stuff.” The entire group glared at me, menacingly as if to say /I’ll get you later!/ I looked at my best friend. His eyes were wide open, as If he couldn’t believe that I was doing this just to continue being friends with him, and the two others standing beside him. Zeus snarled, lifting his meaty hand to hold my collar and give it a tug. “Are you sure, cause I’m not giving second chances.” He said, tugging at it again. “Uh, uh yeah?” “Well your going to be sorry.” He said letting go. I stumbled backwards, but managed to stay on my feet. “I um, could I well, ask for another gift?” I asked quietly. He laughed as if it were the stupidest thing he’d ever heard. “Eh, sure I guess if we can do it.” He said, nodding. “I want you to um, promise.” I said, finally getting the courage to make eye contact with him. He laughed again, this time harder. “God, your funny. Yes, I promise.” I looked down. I had one chance, and one only. “I want you and uh, your group to stop you know, picking on others.” I said, my voice nearly a whisper. “Repeat that.” He said, glaring at me. “I want you to stop picking on others.” I repeated, this time louder, and clearer. Zeus looked like he had been hit in the face with a bowling ball. Quite amusing I have to say. I bit back a giggle. “I didn’t hear you.” “I want you and your group to stop picking on others.” I said, making my voice as clear as it could possibly get. “You want me, and my group to stop picking on others?” “Yes.” “Thats seriously what you want?” He asked, eyes more wide with shock than anger. “Um, yes Zeus... I mean, sir.” “Well, it is in my power, I could do that...” He mumbled, stopping to think for a moment. “Sir, you can’t do that!” A voice cried out from the back. “Yeah! Were meant to be like this!” Another voice chimed in. “We can’t just be... nice!” The first voice said. Zeus looked back at them and hesitated. I could see the annoyance in his eyes. “Stupid kid.” he muttered under his breath. “Well, I can’t deny promises. From this day on, we won’t be so mean. Now get out of here before I change my mind.”
