But Shadow (that was her name) was different, forever to be judged for her one black eye and one gold eye, and it made her upset and lonely. She sat alone in school and watched the other normal cats playing and having fun. But Shadow lay there, wondering whether to ask to play too. She gathered up her courage, tied on her grandad's special pirate cap to look fierce, and walked over. The other cats laughed. They did not want her. Fear and desperation waved over Shadow and she was stuck in place. Invaded by thoughts and emotions. She went home. Every night, bad thoughts emerged and clouded her brain. She couldn't think. She couldn't breathe. She teared up only special thing, her grandfather's special pirate cap, as the full shadow emerged. And then the once innocent Shadow turned bad and mean.
