Chapter 1 3 Years Later Human music beat through the walls; it was loud and sounded like shrieking. I covered my ears with my paws moaning. “When did the kittens become like this?!” Said Bean covering his ears. “To be honest I kinda miss when they’d pick us up” said Petal searching for something to plug her ears with. Bean stood up “I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE AM GOING OUTSIDE” He marched over to the door grabbing an old human scarf for warmth from the freezing winter air. “Are you coming or not?” “I'm coming,” said Petal, taking the even smaller human scarf. Bean smiled going out through the cat flap looking out into the fields. The wheat field was gone during the winter, which wasn’t surprising. But something seemed…..off but she couldn’t put her finger on it. But She shook it off. The wind whistled past it felt like icicles were going to form on her whiskers as she stepped out into the cold. She shivered walking in the deep snow. Bean was already a few feet ahead of her walking towards the back of the house where the lookout rock was. Lookout rock was strange everywhere else is rolling hills and meadows then there's this rock sticking out. Over the years the humans that had lived here had scratched names into it. Now I could read these Bean, Bean could not. The rock ended in a flat area big enough for us to sit even as we grew. You could see the farmland below and the stars up above. It was perfect for stargazing. I climbed up my claws scratching the surface. I sat for a moment taking in the sky, sighing deeply. Bean climbs up next to me and we scoot together for warmth. Bean looks up. The sky has come alive with colors of purple shades of blue and millions of stars. It looks straight from a picture. “You think we’re old enough to go past the cornfields?” asks bean “I don’t know” petal pauses thinking for a moment “maybe soon I mean our birthday is coming up so maybe.” Bean smiles, “What do you think we’ll see?” “I think there's gonna be holes full of water and the sky will look even more wonderful than this, the food will be flavourful and the cats and humans will be even better.” says petal, her eyes reflecting the half moon. Bean scoots closer, his face quickly changing from wishful to worrisome. “But will we be ready?”
