[I will probably be deleting this after my thoughts are addressed, I just thought to post them as a project so more people would be able to see it.] Though this update may prove to be beneficial for some, I also wish there had been more direct conversation between the Scratch Team and the community before it was made. As far as I can see, this update has already caused many issues for me, and it's causing a ton for others. 1. The manager limit is okay. I don't really like it, but I have to say that 40 is a decent number. Still, it is far from being considered perfect. In a studio such as "Future FPCs," this update particularly caused a lot of trouble, and that's why we shifted (temporarily or not) to a newer studio. There are 140 managers, and there's no easy way to shorten it down to 40. 2. The fact studio managers cannot edit the description is another problem that also causes lots of trouble particularly in “Future FPCs,” where the future FPCs are listed in the description, and now they cannot be changed because the studio owner is inactive. This is another reason we shifted studios. Though it is somewhat understandable why the change was made, in the long run, it proves to be the opposite of beneficial to the community. 3. The comment thread replying limit seems particularly annoying to deal with in RP studios, where people have to constantly shift to new threads to roleplay. I personally don't roleplay anymore but I can see how it would be very irritating to deal with for those who do, and it seems as if the update was very unnecessary considering the studio page wasn't lagging /that/ much. 4. The new studio layout design is weird, but Scratchers like myself will eventually get adjusted to it. I don't have as much of a problem with it, though right now, it's difficult to understand where everything is. Out of the entire update, this is undoubtedly one of the best parts, since the rest cause a ton of issues. 5. Personally, I like how you can't invite all of your followers anymore. Though this can be inconvenient for people who notify their followers using this method, for others it can avoid unnecessary studio invites. Inviting people is now more selective and I feel that it is better for the website in the long run. Anyway, these changes are far from perfect (and rather more on the inconvenient side of things), and I really wish the Scratch Team had consulted more with the community before deciding to make them. However, they do not mean that anyone should hate on the Scratch Team -- remember to be respectful when providing your own feedback. All of the issues I listed above are my main problems (I may be able to think of some more soon), and I've seen how the update has drastically affected the community. In the future, I hope the ST will take our opinions into mind when considering updates. But there's one more issue I haven't addressed yet -- and this revolves around the question of whether this was an update that absolutely had to be made. I disagree. I feel like many people would've been perfectly fine without the update, and that this update didn't necessary benefit the community in the way the ST was probably hoping it would. My problem is that there are so many other issues on Scratch that could've been taken care of instead -- such as the mass reporting issue, or explaining why someone was muted from commenting. Though I'm sure that the update had good intentions, I feel as though it wasn't something that needed to happen, if you get what I mean. There are other issues that are far more important. Thanks for taking the time to listen to this, and feel free to provide your opinions in the comments. If a Scratch Team member sees this, hopefully you take my feedback into consideration. And finally, remember to still be polite, even if you're really frustrated with the update -- being rude or arrogantly demanding won't change anything :) [Song is Calamitous by me -
