Hey guys! I am aware that there is a new update to studios, and I'd like to suggest some things if that's okay! ^-^ For most people on Scratch, including me, the studio update has served no help to us, and in fact ruined a lot of things for us. I'd like to explain why in a respectful manner. I hope this doesn’t break the community guidelines, because I’m pretty sure we’re allowed to express our opinions in a nice way! :D ~ Minor inconveniences ~ - The new Scratchers not being able to create studios is fine, because it’s just like a project. - Perhaps you should fix the follower status, it’s only at 100. ~ Addressing the reply limit ~ First of all, now RP studios are dysfunctional. A lot of my Scratch life is spent doing RP in a studio. If you think that's bad, it's not, because it actually helps me generate creative ideas for a project! In my opinion, that's part of the imagination and freeness of Scratch. Now, I also understand that the reply limit is to prevent spam, but I argue that there will be spam no matter what you do, and we can just mute/report/ban the spammers. Also, I had learned recently that it was to prevent people from having 1 on 1 conversations? That seems a bit silly, because that doesn’t prevent others from jumping in. There’s nothing stopping a person from jumping in and/or reading a RP/longer conversation. In fact, you can see it all in the activity in the studio. And as @Winter58 has said, it is not so bad for people talking to each other. I have been all around Scratch, reading comments, etc. and the Scratch community stays pretty safe and friendly. And if it doesn’t… What's that report button for? I understand that you will have to start a new conversation, but… Doesn’t that just create more unnecessary spam? You’re just taking up space that you wouldn’t have needed if you had just been able to reply again. Maybe the reply button is to prevent lag? Then limit the replies to 3000-5000. That’s much better for everyone. ~ Addressing the manager’s limits ~ Studios with inactive/deleted creators are now useless. Now what do we do when we want to help out in the studio? Like I said, I argue that this makes no difference in solving problems happening in studios (raiding, we can report the raiders), and only causes people to not be able to maintain a studio as well. Many amazing studios on Scratch rely on the fact that all managers can actually manage the studio. It’s not so easy to move studios either. People would rather just stay in the same one. ~ Addressing the manager limit ~ The manager limit is useless now. What’s the point in having a limit to the managers if there’s only a tiny little difference between a curator and a manager anyway? People are still going to try to get more curators/have add everything studios, and adding the manager limit is not going to help. It's only going to mess up people’s studios. If you're worried about people not being smart about who they promote, first of all, doesn't that mean they should learn their lesson if they make a mistake? And second of all, maybe you should add an option to demote people as well. Or even a toggle button that gives the owner an option to allow/disallow people to edit the description. Because part of managing a studio is being a co-owner to it and being able to actually manage it. Managers are trusted, and so they get more privileges. ~ Addressing the new style ~ First of all, everything is bigger and harder to see. It’s more laggy like a project, where it takes a refresh to the entire page to actually see how many messages you have. If you want to see more replies you have to click over and over and over to get to them, which is extremely irritating. Perhaps you did this because of lag? Well, there is definitely a better way to handle it than this. I'm sorry if this is coming off as rude ST. I completely understand where you're coming from but this update is doing more harm than good. People are leaving because of this. Please change it back, for the sake of us Scratchers, who as you said have a valid opinion. It was much better before. Have an awesome day!
