Relationships: none yet Other notes: none! - Backstory - To understand Cole’s story, we must first go back to his father’s. His father, Henry Redford, was an immortal demon. He was considered a strange one, since he had a merciful and warm personality. When he was younger, Henry decided to visit the human world. While in the human world, he met a human merchant’s daughter named Rose. Rose was a beautiful young woman, both on the outside and on the inside. The two fell madly in love and agreed to marry each other. But there was one problem: if Henry was discovered, both of the lovers would be exiled from their relative kingdoms, or worse, tortured and k1lled. So Henry decided to hide his true identity, even to Rose, for their safety. A bit after Rose and Henry were married, the two had a child whom they named Ethan. Ethan, a half-demon, was born with only half the abilities of a full demon. He wasn’t able to hide his wings and horns, which were half the usual size and completely useless, and he wasn’t immortal. He could live forever, as long as no illness or wound took him. Obviously, this was a huge surprise to Rose. Nevertheless, she still loved Henry and Ethan because she knew they were good people. Ethan grew up living a very sheltered life, with his parents telling everyone that their child was sickly and couldn’t go out. He was educated at home by a kind, understanding servant named Walter. The Redford family could have lived happily for a long time if the demon king hadn’t found out. In the demon realm, having a half-blooded child was a disgrace. The demon king decided not to punish Henry, but cursed little Ethan. The curse caused Ethan to bring misfortune to those closest to him. Since Henry was a demon, a curse cast by another demon didn’t affect him, but it did affect his wife. When Ethan was only six, many diseases and illnesses overtook his mother, who soon died. Henry, heartbroken, retreated to his study and grieved for a long time. Ethan couldn’t understand what was going on, since he was so young. At last, Henry emerged from his study, but this time, he was no longer the kindhearted man from before Rose’s death. This time, he was full of bitterness. He couldn’t die, since he was immortal, and he was banished from the underworld so he had absolutely no chance of seeing Rose again, even as a spirit. And he blamed Ethan for it. After all, it was his curse that had caused Rose’s death. Henry became cold towards Cole and just in general, and often yelled at and @.bus3d him. Thus, Ethan’s life became harsh. His only retreat was the garden of the mansion they lived in. His favorite were the roses, which reminded him of his mother of the same name. When he was 16, Ethan came back from a day out in the garden to find the house quiet. His father had completely disappeared. He went into Henry’s study to look for him, but only found a note saying that the demon king had “taken care” of his father, but chose to spare him. The harsh realization hit him. Ethan was alone in the world, with no one, no one at all. And he couldn’t meet new people, because then his curse would affect them. Even though his father was harsh towards him, Ethan depended on him and loved him. Hopeless, he escaped into the mountains where he learned to fend for and take care of himself. Time flew by, and one day, Ethan looked at the markings on his wall and saw that 200 years had gone by. He decided to finally emerge into the world, hoping that it was a lot less harsh than it was before. After careful observation, Ethan changed himself to look like a teenager from this age. He has moved his house closer to a town and began to go to school. Ethan claims that his horn and wings are merely props and tries to make them look like it, but rumors still go around the place he lives in.
