i’ve been on this site since my first year of middle school, now i’m in my freshman year of college. this place has not gotten any better. nothing has improved. i have watched everything slowly but surely deteriorate over time. when i first joined back in roughly 2015, scratch was thriving. the fnaf phase was in full force, roleplaying and creativity as far as the eye could see. i made friends, ocs, would stay up for hours chatting or rping. i could post my (albeit not great) art with a bit of salt, a bit of edginess if you will, and not get in trouble. nowadays, i can’t even show off my decorative sword because its “too scary for some kids”. since when did we go from posting warnings about a drop of bl00d in animations to having a project taken down because a /picture/ of a sword was deemed “too scary”? and no, this isn’t because i’ve gotten too old for scratch or because i’m looking back at the “good ol’ days” through rose-tinted glasses. the st has shown this for sure. they’re taking “all ages” and twisting it to mean that they are gradually becoming more “kids only”. that’s generally what can happen a lot with platforms/things that are meant for all ages. they hone in on small children being their largest demographic, choosing to cater to them. this update, along with the other growing number of issues with this website, shows that. i used to be happy to click on a studio to see what’s up, but now i’m only annoyed and disgusted by the layout. i’ve seen websites from the 90s/2000s that haven’t been updated and they have better layouts. i still enjoy rp as a young adult, and i liked the studio setup scratch used to have. but now i have to have Alone tell me when the reply limit is reached. where’s the fun in that?! i love going back to old rps and scrolling through the hundreds of comments and reading, but now every chain we want to make long is a broken up mess. it takes the fun out of just about everything.
