Hi. Yesterday something very sad happened. My second rooster gorgeous [the one on the left] got attacked by a raccoon and died. So, it all started when we got two roosters: Gorgeous (because he had REALLY beautiful feathering), and frosting (my bro's made that. Idk why though LOL). But anyway, we had two new chickens. They did get pecked on quite alot (cause' they're new), but they were nice to each other, and that's always good. So, after they pecking order had settled a bit, it was time for us to go to the condo my dad's work owns in north Lake Tahoe city. We had alot of fun hiking, swimming, and jumping off docks and stuff. After Tahoe, we were on our way back. We HAD seen this raccoon before, but we actually only saw him one more time after that, that time being not only in the tree of our back neighbors yard but also it was a week before Tahoe. The only thing we had heard was from our neighbors when Gorgeous ran through a space between two fence boards into their yard. eventually, they put him back and it was all good. But, sadly when we got back, we only found some blood splatters and feathers. We thought it must have happened the night before we come because gorgeous was trying to escape left and right. luckily, we didn't let him escape. he was so desperate to escape that night, he managed to hop on top of the coop! ( mind you, the coop is at least six feet tall) he was even with the trees now, and in the darkness, hoped onto them. from then on, Gorgeous slept in the tree. I was sad that the raccoon got frosting, but my chickens have died of raccoons before. I'm actually not sure how Gorgeous died, but alas, the raccoon got him too. RIP little chickens. No two of my chickens have ever died so close with each other and so, I decided to make a scratch about them because they were fairly young and very new to the run. I also wanted to mention that I was really sad for frosting's death because he was going to the amazing house of my mom's friend before he died. And Gorgeous was to stay with us until he crowed. RIP - MBLucia have a good rest of your day and pray that Gorgeous and Frosting are happy in heaven.
Love and fav for more stories about my chickens and urban farming. (not their death tho)
