(Yes, this is studio updates.) Everyone, myself included, has been getting very heated on the topic of studio updates. Someone should cut back on the heat, put personal opinions aside and think rationally about this. Clearly someone thought these updates were necessary, or the Scratch team would not have made them. The Scratch society seems fairly evenly split between those who detest the new layout and those who like or are okay with it. Almost everyone hates the function alterations, though. The Scratch team should do the following: Put an open-to-all survey on the home page for a month so everyone can vote for which functions they like, using the standard strongly agree/agree/neutral/disagree/strongly disagree format to avoid bias. Have some way of stopping people from voting twice. For each alteration, if it turns out the majority dislike the change, scrap it and reinstate the previous setup. There's no point in having updates nobody likes. I am amazed that this simple solution has not apparently occurred to the Scratch team.
My personal opinion: I am against the aesthetic updates. I preferred the old format, but do admit the current one matches Scratch better. It'd be nice if they'd put the title back along the top instead of bunched in one corner, though. I am heavily against all the function updates. As far as I can see, they make life much harder for everyone with no real compensations, and they don't fix any actual problems.
