Hi there! It’s me, Sparky! As you’ve probably read from the title, this is going to be my first ever DTA, and the theme is *drumroll please* biomes! This is going to be co-hosted by my friend stubbytail, so make sure to give them some love and maybe a follow! Aight, so, real quick, I just wanna set some rules, and clear up some stuff. For anyone who doesn’t know what a DTA is, it’s basically a contest where someone makes a bunch of designs, and you have to ‘draw to adopt’, which is what DTA stands for. There is usually a time limit, in this case, until September 1st, and then the entries are looked at and the host and (if there is one)co-host decide who gets what character! Rules are below! 1. You do not have to ask to enter! Simply remix the project and I’ll check back at the due date, four weeks from now. 2. You aren’t allowed to use bases, heavy referencing, or trace other people’s work. Although I do encourage privately tracing to develop your own skills, you shouldn’t show it as your own work, and therefore, tracing and bases are not allowed. 3. You can enter for as many as you want, but only win one. The reason behind this is simple, I want everyone to have an opportunity, and this way, more people get a chance. 4. No attacking or guilt tripping me or the winner. Please, be kind to whoever wins whatever designs, even if you wanted one really badly. Remember, there are young children on this platform, and you shouldn’t encourage this type of stuff. 5. Don’t link your project in the comments. Although I understand the concern that it might not be seen, I assure you I will look through ALL of the projects, and none will be skipped over, so no need to worry. 6. You are allowed to tweak and change the design as much as you want, as long as we can still recognize that this is the same character. After you win it, it is also yours, and yours forever, as I don’t believe in revoking characters unless someone has broken rules I didn’t know about before giving them the design. You can also decide the character’s name, personality, backstory, gender, etc. You don’t have to credit me for designs at any point in time after you win! Me and stubby will be choosing the winner by writing entries down and giving each person points on a google doc based on quality using a point system, so look in the credits for a way to get more points added to your project! Since this is my first DTA, please inform me if you think there’s something I could do better in the comments!
I’m so so sorry scratch ruined all the details xd A huge thank you to the co-host of this project, stubbytail! WHAT WILL GIVE YOU EXTRA POINTS: - Animations(15pts) - Backstory/bio(10pts) - Multiple pieces(8pts, but remember, quality>quantity!) - Ref sheet(8pts) - Shading(5pts) Keep in mind that these may vary depending on quality, however! WHAT THE CHARACTERS ARE BASED OFF OF(if you ever feel like tweaking the design either after you win it or in your entry): 1. Arctic beach(some are pebbly, some are sandy, I couldn’t decide so I did both! The pattern on the back was also inspired by geodes, and the way you crack them open to find cool gems!) 2. Arctic poppy snowy owl(honestly, I don’t think I made the Arctic poppy inspiration clear enough in this one :/) 3. Mosaic anglerfish(I also got partially inspired by opalized fossils and another name for the anglerfish, and devil fish. The thing is, a few hours after I finalized the design, my teach assigned a mosaic art project for us to do! Coincidence? I THINK NOT. Another key inspiration for this was that, if you look closely, you can see spirits and ghosts leaking out of the horn!) 4. Seafoam koi(ooooh, this one was a lot of fun to make! The kelp and glass shards in the neck fur reference the fact that glass and kelp wash up often on beaches. The tail and back was supposed to be sort of like a koi’s patchy patterns, but also inspired by the different zones you come across when going down into the ocean. Also, the cracks in the legs are supposed to be coral, but I don’t know if it shows qwq) 5. Forest pixie(this is pretty self-explanatory, so I think I’ll just add some other elements of the design in. First of all, the stripes on the legs are inspired by the way birch trees look, as well as the moss that grows in the taiga. The tail is a dandelion puff, and also based off a type of flower I cannot remember the name of for the life of me that grows in the taiga, and the ears are leaves, with some ant antennae as well!) 6. Gecko hoodie(this one was so much fun to make! It has, of course, a gecko hoodie, specifically a leopard gecko, but that’s not all. It is also partially inspired by red sand deserts, with the red sort of leaking into the paler yellowish sand.)
