~~~ Chapter 17 : Torn Quickly calling Meg on her cell phone, she waiting in a impatient way for her to pick up. “ c’mon c’mon c’mon pleaseeee pick up...... it’s an emergency hhhhh..... “ Lightning thought to herself while hearing the beeps or her phone. “ Hello?..... Lightning? “ Meg’s voice finally said over the phone a few seconds later. “ Meg! Thank goodness you picked up- I have a big problem....... “ Lightning said. “ What is it?! Is someone hurt??? “ Meg asked, sounding a bit panicked. “ No...... no one’s hurt...... but some THING is..... “ Lightning replied in a serious tone so she didn’t sound upset. “ What “ thing “ is broke aka damaged?...... “ Meg asked. " .......... my dress- it's........ torn. I don't know what happened! It was in one piece when I bought it......... and now- there's a huge rip in it........ " Lightning explained, sighing slightly. " Oh no...... well- I'll look at the rip when I get back. I just picked up the food and I'm coming back towards the academy now. " Meg said. " Why do you wanna see it?.... " Lightning asked. " I'm good with sewing and making clothes...... if the rip is the size I'm picturing in my mind- I should be able to sew it to where it didn't even look like it was torn. " Meg explained. " really?..... you'd do that for me? " Lightning said, cheering up slightly. " Lightning of course I would..... your my friend. And I care about you. " Meg replied. " Alright heh. Thanks..... I'll see you in a few. " Lightning said before hanging up her phone. Returning to the academy and into their dorm with two bags of piping hot food a few minutes later, Meg looked over at Lightning and asked, " So where's your dress so I can see it? " . Lightning gently took one of the bags of food from Meg then pointed to one of the shopping bags over in her closet. " Alrighty! Let me take a gander at this rip. " Meg replied, walking over to the shopping back and pulling out Lightning's blue dress for the gala. The first thing Meg noticed when taking out the dress was the said rip in the bottom area of the gown. " Oh I can sew this up within 2 hours or less. It'll look good as new. " Meg explained after examining the damage. Taking a bite of her burger, Lightning's ear twitched after hearing what Meg said before glancing over at her. " R-Really?..... " Lightning said, stuttering a bit before biting into her lunch again. Meg chirped and nodded in response to her with a warm smile. " I'll eat my lunch first then sew it- cause fast food getting on your fancy clothes is a girl's nightmare. " Meg explained, laughing slightly nervously. " ehhh yeah- " Lightning replied with a mouth full of unchewed burger. " Lightning be careful- you don't wanna choke. " Meg reminded her friend before taking out her own burger. After a few moments Lightning swallowed the bit of the tasty mixture of burger, bread and several other toppings. " hehe..... sorry about that....... " Lightning said. " Your fineeee heheh " Meg replied before going back to eating her lunch. Fifteen precious minutes went by before Meg finally finish eating and had her sewing supplies all out and ready to fix Lightning's special dress for the gala tomorrow. Thankfully Meg had so many colors of thread, that it was easy to find the perfect shade of blue to blend in nicely with the fabric's beautiful blue. Gently taking out a needle and threading it with the string, Meg grabbed the two ends of the torn part of the dress and started to poke it and sew it back together. Meg knew exactly what she was doing and you could tell by how easily she sewed the dress that she's done this many times before. Lightning watched hew friend a bit from her bed, a little amazed by her keen eye for detail. “ When did you learn to sew like that? “ Lightning asked her friend while watching closely. “ I taught myself...... I don’t just sew- eh-heh. I’m great with clothes....... I’ve made dresses before- so I sure know how to fix them. “ Meg explained, looking down at what she was doing while talking to Lightning. “ Wow...... that’s pretty impressive. “ Lightning commented. “ eh-heh- thanks....... I’ve had lots of practice. “ Meg replied to her with a slight happy smile at Lightning. Lightning couldn’t help but smile back. “ andddd finished! Good as new! “ Meg said a few minutes later, holding up the dress so Lightning could see. “ Omg it doesn’t even look like it was torn! Thank you so much Meg for fixing it. “ Lightning said with a smile. “ Of course, hehehe. It was my pleasure. “ Meg said and set the dress back down in the shopping bag. Lightning looked over at the clock, noticing it was almost sunset already. “ Jeez- time flies..... we should start getting ready for bed. Big day tomorrow..... “ Lightning said. “ Yeah, your totally right........ big studying and the gala....... “ Meg replied.
