I’ve been busy with school and life in general recently. I hope you all are okay with this though! My recent projects have been lower quality.. :’) Anyways, there’s a one year, one day time difference between the two. Redrawing the same character (Katara from Avatar the Last Airbender)!! I was scrolling through my procreate gallery and I saw all the drawings I made when I first downloaded procreate. It was exactly a year after I had made them and, I thought it would be fun to redraw one to see if I’ve actually improved xD Oct 2020: (1hr 57mins) - made the same week I got my iPad! - I was using the peppermint sketch brush for everything - style is a lot more rough and sketchy - pencil/lineart stands out more - vibrant overlays - more questionable anatomy - strange shadows? Oct 2021: (1hr 31mins) - after one year on my iPad - using downloaded/edited brushes - smoother style (I think?) - colors are softer - learned how to use overlays a little better - slightly better anatomy!! The eyes are still wonky though xD - shadows are a bit more defined, there’s a more concrete light source. I’ve been feeling pretty down on myself recently so doing this was a bit of a confidence boost xD Drawing week to week, it’s pretty hard to notice improvement but when you step back, it’s definitely there!! I’m definitely excited to see how I continue to learn more as an artist. I’m sure in a year I’ll look back at the 2021 drawing of Katara and cringe xD Lmk what you guys think!!
