TW: Brief mention of anxiety attacks in this description. If that triggers you, you may want to skip this. As a genderqueer person, I know firsthand what its like to use a washroom that doesn't align with your gender identity. Many people, myself included, get anxiety attacks, or can't breathe, or just feel downright awful. Some people might say, "It's just a washroom, it shouldn't matter." But even the things that seem small can have a great impact on people's happiness and comfort level. I personally have never used a gender neutral washroom, because at my school there was only one and it was a floor below me. But whenever I passed by it, I would feel a little glimmer of hope. Even the idea of gender neutral bathrooms has only started pretty recently. Lots of older non-binary people probably had never used a washroom that aligned with their gender identity. That thought really hurts me. Think of all the future generations. I want everyone to feel happy, loved, and supported. This really shouldn't be something we have to ask for. But no matter what, I will stand, and I will fight, and I will speak up, for the LGBTQ2SIAP+ community, and all the generations to come.
