At Dolphin Hybrid Elementary School, all he did was read on the benches, or sometimes swim through the hoops by himself. He didn’t have any parents because they had died when he was little, so he lived with his aunt Wave. They rarely talked with each other, but when they did, Aunt Wave would tell him myths and fables for him to ponder about when he was bored. One day after school, Tide went home and found out that Aunt Wave left mysteriously. She left a note that was under the door. It was connected with the only house key. The note read, “Write down every story I told you, I only have a little time left, and I have to pass this on.” Tide was confused, but he wrote down every single myth, every single fable. Then he realized something. In every single story there was a magic cave, and in every single cave, a wise creature would tell the hero something important. In every single story, there was also a magic bag filled with everlasting equipment. Tide also realized every single time Aunt Wave mentioned the bag, she would curl her tail around her purse. “That’s impossible,” Tide thought. “Magic bags don’t exist. Plus Aunt Wave told me never to touch her purse, and it probably isn’t here anyway. But then, why did she leave the house key with me? Isn’t she going to come back..?” Tide picked up the key and opened the door. Everything was gone, and Aunt Wave was too. The only thing left in the empty house was Aunt Wave’s purse. Tide closed the door and gasped. Aunt Wave forgot her purse! He had to find her and return it. Tide picked up the purse, and to his surprise, when he looked down, it was like a whole world inside the purse. It was filled with everything, food, clothing, weapons, books, you name it! Tide was now very confused. He looked around, and found a map. The map led to a cave far, far away from the City of Dolphin Hybrid Thingies. He decided to go there, and use the money in Aunt Wave’s purse to buy a ticket out of town. 2 weeks later, He got to a town that was close enough to the cave. He traveled by himself, but he was good at reading maps, and eventually found the cave. By that time, Tide’s tail was sore, and he couldn’t move. He had already eaten all the food in the purse, and he didn’t have any energy left. Suddenly, a portal appeared in front of the cave and he was sucked in. He appeared at a vast coral reef filled with fish and seaweed. It was familiar to him, and he got some food to eat. The map had suddenly changed, and a current brought him to many parts of the ocean. He traveled the new world he was teleported to, not caring about the fact that there were no Dolphin Hybrid Thingies around him, nor about the fact that a portal had teleported him here. One day, Tide was discovered. A seal named Harper was the witness. Harper somehow understood Tide’s story, and they became friends. They also found a way back to the City of Dolphin Hybrid Thingies, and Tide went back home to his bed. When he woke up, Aunt Wave was at home, with her tail curled around the purse. Had this all been a dream? He went outside to see if it was. Everything was normal, just like it had been before. The calendar also said that no months, years, or weeks had passed. The month he had spent in the new world didn’t add to the calendar. The only proof Tide had was his memory. He knew it wasn’t a dream, and he was going to find Harper. He went back into the house, and Harper was sitting on the chair next to Aunt Wave. Aunt Wave looked up and smiled, knowing that Tide understood the message. “Pass this on,” she told him. Tide knew that there was nobody to pass it on to, so when Aunt Wave died, he left her purse on a pup’s doorstep with a note. To this day, the story about the dimension of humans and animals is still being passed on to more Dolphin Hybrid Thingies… and maybe humans, too.
