• ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 1 • "Rosepaw! Are you even paying attention!?" Honeystripe yowled. Rosepaw snapped into attention. "I uh- uhm- er..." Rosepaw stammered, and Honeystripe heaved a huge sigh. Rosepaw had been thinking about Amber, and her beautiful green eyes and her flaming orange fur. "Rosepaw," Honeystripe continued. Rosepaw looked over to the medicine cat. "We are low on catmint. Go collect some now." Honeystripe meowed softly, but with a hard, stern stare. Rosepaw nodded, her fur tingling as she found an excuse to see Amber. As Rosepaw raced out of the camp, another cat slumped into the Medicine cat den, coughing madly. Rosepaw raced out, and tripped over right into a catmint bush. ᴊᴜꜱᴛ ᴍʏ ʟᴜᴄᴋ! Rosepaw thought happily as she plucked the soft leaves out. Her mouth watered as the amazing smell and the softness sank into her teeth, but she carried them gently. Rosepaw looked around for a sign of Amber, but there were none. She ducked her head and slumped back, her heart sinking. Suddenly, a small bell rang and Rosepaw pricked her ears, as Amber went outside, shivering but tapping the snow patiently. ꜱʜᴇ'ꜱ ᴡᴀɪᴛɪɴɢ ꜰᴏʀ ᴍᴇ! Rosepaw thought, and quickly buried the catmint and dashed over, a choking purr rising from her chest. "Rosepaw!" Amber purred. Amber touched her flank against Rosepaw's and they both purred, happiness filling them both like the rays of sunshine that seemed to be pointing at them.
