Characteristics: Due to a bioluminescent organism that lives in the cave they reside in, their teeth seem to glow in the dark. These creatures are harmless, but are attracted to bones. The longer a bone is exposed to these, the brighter they will glow. Colors can vary from a midnight black to a grey, albinos can be white furred. (A very dark blue is also seen every now and then) Eye colors are commonly seen as purple, blue, or green. As a very rare genetic mutation one might be born with orange eyes. They hunt in packs, and are almost never seen alone. When they become mates, they are mates for life. An average litter consists of anywhere from 1 to 5 kits with three months in the womb before birth. They have a short lifespan at 200 months maximum.(around 16.66 years) 0-6 months (a paw) receives no training, and is protected by the mother and father. 7-12 months (a claw) receives minor training from a fang, still treated as a younger animal. 13-20 months (a fang) receives a lot of training from a full name, and starts to be taken seriously as it matures. 21-170 months (full name) no additional training unless they seek it out, is given at least respect by the rest of the pack, and is taken seriously. 171-200 (Elder) No training, cared for by the pack, held with the most respect, is looked up to, and occasionally entertains the younger Nighthowlers with stories. Pack positions: Leader: Second: Third: Healer: Healer’s Fang: Healer’s Claw: Hunters: Fangs: Claws: Paws: Awaiting: Genetic mutations possible: Blindness No night vision Deaf Missing legs Missing a tail Missing both tails Munchkin paw (born with short legs, and doesn’t grow to full size) (If I am missing one that you want to be here, contact me and I will look into it to try to add it.) The territory is a lush rainforest with a cave near the center of it. This cave goes very deep and is completely dark, this is the main camp of the Nighthowlers. Outside of the rainforest in a human facility, the only things that scare these beasts, they stay out of sight to stay hidden, and alive. There is a clearing near the cave that the nighthowlers go to during a new moon to howl in the darkness. The darkest day is a time of peace, and no one fights or attacks anyone else. Special abilities include being able to widen their iris to see clearly in near pitch darkness. They can smell prey from up to a mile away. They have armored backs, the claws can not cut the backs of other Nighthowlers. Their chest does not have this armour, and is their weak spot. (As a show of trust, a nighthowler will roll onto their back, exposing their weakest spot.)
