The leaves flew through the MossClan camp cushioning the aching paws of the cats coming from the dawn patrol. "My paws feel like they're gonna fall off!" grumbled Smokepaw, and was suprised when Eaglelight, one of the warriors mewed, "Eh he, your paws are bleeding Smokepaw." Wavepatch nodded, and purred warmly a greeting at Gorsestar, the black she-cat with green eyes that was the leader of MossClan. "Smokepaw," she said, "Why not ask Puddleleaf about that paw of yours?" "I KNOW!" Smokepaw yowled, realising a second too late that he had been very rude to the leader. "Sorry.." "It's fine," Gorsestar mewed calmly, "Now go to Puddleleaf please." "I can go without herbs," Smokepaw thought aloud. "That was an oder," Gorsetsar mewed sharply. Smokepaw rolled his eyes and padded away. “That looks okay now,” Featherpaw mewed, pressing garlic and cobwebs onto Smokepaw’s cracked pad. “Thank you,” Smokepaw grumbled. Featherpaw glanced at him and mewed, “I’m not done.” Pressing one more cobweb onto his wound she was hurt and outraged when he yowled, “OW that stings! You mouse-brain!” Featherpaw gave a hard death stare at him and ripped off the cobwebs before storming off. “Not one your best days?” Asked Puddleleaf, “Smokepaw, you are in a foul mood today. So is my apprentice.” “Eh, apprentices. What a match those two would make.” It was Eaglelight AGAIN. Smokepaw grunted and reapplied the cobwebs just as Eaglelight left. “I’m going to go,” Smokepaw mewed, and walked off into the comfort of the moss-nested apprentice den. Meanwhile, Wavepatch was in the leader's den, asking Gorsestar about the gathering. "Smokepaw should come," Wavepatch mewed. Wavepatch was the sort of cat that gave everyone a second chance, if it was catching prey or even injuring another. "He should get a chance to befriend cats!"
