The wind was fierce, swatting at the small prairie fiercely. Nearby, hidden by the lone lightning-struck tree, a tall and proud wolf sat, watching the prairie battle the wind. He was alone, or so it seemed, as he stared off at the distant horizon. In the dark light of the crescent moon, he seemed to glow. It was odd. He finally stood up, turning around gracefully to face a small cat. It narrowed it’s eyes, glaring daggers at the giant predator. “What now?” It hissed, contemptibly, “You started your war, and the prairie dogs will sing it out. The girl won’t survive without a doubt. Her and her friends will loose the count.” “So you think, as you spit out nonsense prophecy-like words,” the wolf growled out. “You don’t know how she will play it out, Blitsi.” He shook out his long, midnight-colored fur. “Now be gone, foul one.” “You’re one to talk,” was all the lithe cat said as it slowly flicked it’s tail. To and fro, to and fro. And then, with a bare of teeth, it was gone. The wolf sighed, his humongous body heaving with the strength. “Oh, what fun this go around will be..” ~~~~~~~~~~ The clock ticked forwards, seconds drawing by, as a girl with cinnamon colored hair and large, brown eyes stared at it. “Five… four.. three,” she counted down, not blinking, “two… one..” the clock awoke, letting out large bringgg noises. “GOOD MORNING,” a large, booming voice called out from a room down the hall. She stood up, flipping her hair back. In her hands were three books, “The Storm of South”, “Nightmare of Horses”, and, her favorite, “Daydreams and Princesses”. All were wonderful books in her opinion, but the last was the best. Set in a lovely medieval time, a princess who dreamt of leaving runs into a knight, who turns out to be the evil sorcerer at the end, who promises her he could help her leave. In the end, well, it was never finished, in her IMAGINED end, she escapes with her dog, Bolo. “GRACIE, YOU GET DOWN HERE AT ONCE!” Her mother’s voice demanded. With a groan, the girl stepped out of her room, walking down the hall. It was littered with books and papers, most of which were hers, but a lot of a toys. LEGOs, action figures, you name it, they probably had it in the hall. Her soft footsteps led her quietly down past a door, which if you stopped, you could hear three voices yelling at each other. Gracie finally got to the kitchen, where Lola and Luke were waiting for her. Lola waved, smiling slightly. Luke nodded, but pointed at Gracie’s mother. She looked furious, all blown up like a porcupine. “GRACIE YOUNG, YOUR DOG JUST CHEWED UP MY FAVORITE PAIR OF TENNIS SHOES!” Ah, of course, tennis shoes. Her dog, Ace, loved all types of shoes. Her mother’s happened to be his favorite. “Sorry, Mom, I’ll take Ace with us.” It was Saturday, one of her favorite days. Not for being-out-of-school part, but the freedom. She could do whatever with her two friends and her dog, and come back whenever she pleased. Ace, who must’ve heard his name, came trotting into the room. His short, latte colored fur was covered in mud. “To the lake, then?” She asked Luke, “He clearly needs to learn some manners.” She then mouthed to Ace, ‘Get over here, you big baby.’ He immediately came, his bud of a tail attempting to tuck between his legs. “Boxer,” was all Gracie said as she grabbed her green camo shoulder bag. “Cmon, we don’t want to be late!” As soon as Lola and Luke had exited the door, she ducked out before her mother could comment. The view from her porch was magnificent, the willow tree forest swaying in the soft winds just so, and the distant lake glimmering in the morning light. The ivy that was growing around the front of the house seemed to be stretching in the morning sun, happy that it was light again. As she stepped off the porch, Iva Faye ran up at them, panting slightly. Her blonde hair was up in a messy bun, something Lola usually did, and her sea green eyes were round. “DID I MISS IT.” She said, in a statement tone. Ace ran at her, his eyes fully excited. “Nah, we’re going over right now!” Gracie said, energy in her voice. She joined the group, and they all set off towards the willow forest. It was maybe half a mile away, which means if they jogged it, they would be there in ten minutes or so. Luke, seeming to read her mind, started jogging off towards the trees. Lola followed at a speed walk. Ace, seeing them speed up, ran at a full run towards the forest. Gracie followed, jogging quickly in front of everyone. Iva, last as usual, kept walking. This was nice, just as it usually was, them all keeping together but staying quiet. Finally, Lola said, “You know, Blisi the chaos creature, and Falae the storm creature?” She stayed quiet for a few more moments, then added, “Last night, there was this big storm off to the prairie. You know, the one that’s a few miles from our house?” Everyone nodded, still pacing themselves. This was common, someone to say something, and everyone else to nod. They reached the willow forest quickly.
(Cont) Ace ran off inside the forest, quickly lost in the shadows dancing on the ground. Gracie walked towards a tree, and Lola followed. Luke and Iva went deeper into the forest, heading towards where they had set up a little cottage like place. It was a nice clearing, all spread out with a few flowers. When she stopped in front of the tree, Lola offered her a leg up, holding her hands on her knee. Gracie smiled, backing up a few paces. She then ran at the tree, placing on leg on Lola’s knee as she jumped up onto a low hanging branch. With a grunt, she climbed up some. As she reached a know in the tree, a hidden stash of leashes and food came into sight. Gracie counted it all, her mental self remembering how much she had left. “We need to shop soon, maybe tomorrow.” She called down to Lola, who nodded. Gracie grabbed a leash, and a bag of dog treats and hopped down, sticking her landing. “You used to do gymnastics, right?” Lola asked quietly. “Yeah, up until I was twelve.” That was three years ago, when she had ended. It has been fun while it had lasted. Grabbing Lola’s arm, she marched off towards the clearing. ~~~~~~~~~~ (I’ma end it here and be mean. >;3 if you want a second part, lmk. I might continue it.)
