If the sounds don't line up at all with what's happening on screen, press the green flag again. Arrow keys to move between the different options. 'Enter' to select the option. In custom mode, point and click to lay down a cell. Click the cell again to delete it.
I realized too late that everyone and their mother have already made a version of this project, but I had already done 75% of the work so I decided to soldier ahead. The Apple 2 sounds were taken from youtube, and the music is from a royalty-free site. This is not a perfect representation of the game of life, as the edge behavior is wrong. And technically the real game of life takes place in an infinite plane. But I'm too lazy to fix it, so it is what it is. That's why the Puffer 1 preset has an asterisk next to it, the trail it leaves behind is technically incorrect. Another thing, I missed a pixel on the Bi-Block puffer but I'm too lazy to fix it so technically it isn't the real thing either. Oh well. I found that this project runs best on machines with 16 gigs of RAM. I would say that the absolute minimum amount of memory is 8 gigs. Inspired by Veritasium's video: Math Has a Fatal Flaw
