'Run, faster, faster, faster.' That's all he could think about. He ran until his legs gave out, falling down somewhere in a park. — How did he get here, you may ask? Well, let's skip back a few hours, shall we? — 6:07 is what his watch read. 'Dang it! Dad's going to kill me.' Dream ran inside his house, not bothering to take off his shoes. Heading upstairs he was hoping that his Dad wasn't home yet. His door was closed; that's a good sign, right? He opened it up, but instead of being greeted by an empty room, his eyes were met with his father's. "H-hey, Dad…" He chuckled nervously, seeing a belt in his hands. "Hey, son. Wanna tell me where you've been?" The taller man asked, his grip on the belt tightening. "Just got stuck in class," he walked back slowly towards the closed bedroom door. "You know those darn teachers, always blabbering." "The only one blabbering here is you. Tell me the truth." "W-what do you mean? I am t–" "No," his father interrupted. "Because if you were telling the truth I wouldn't have received a call from those 'blabbering' teachers of yours, saying that you had left class early. So," he stood up, making advances towards Dream – who was a good 3 feet away from the door. "Tell me son, where were you?" Venom laced his words. ⚠️ TW sᴛᴀʀᴛs ʜᴇʀᴇ ⚠️ Dream didn't answer. His father took the belt and whacked it across his forehead, the force causing a bloody slash to appear. After that, Dream still didn't reply. All that was emitted from him was a grunt of pain. "I said, TELL ME WHERE YOU WERE." He took the belt once more and this time hitting Dream's knees. The action caught him off-guard, resulting in a fall. His father knelt down. "C'mon son, tell your dear pops where you were." "... I was visiting mom." That clearly angered the man. "That hag?! You know not to do that dear Dreamie." He chuckled menacingly. "She could hurt you – you don't want that, now do you?" Silence. He grabbed the collar of Dream's shirt. "Listen to me boy. I'm only doing what's best for you. You trust dear daddy, don't you?" Again, not a sound. His father punched his jaw, then grabbed his face so he was facing him, fist now bloody. "You trust me, don't you?" ⚠️ TW ᴇɴᴅs ʜᴇʀᴇ ⚠️ Dream looked at him, only to then spit in his eye, pushing him away. He used the short time he had while his dad was fixing his vision to grab his backpack and exit the door. He stopped for just a few moments, watching for traffic. Unfortunately, he waited for just enough for his dad to come out. "Hey!! I'm not done with you quite yet." He yelled, running towards Dream. Without a second thought Dream ran forwards. Right when he was about to arrive at the other end of the street, he collided with a biker. "Gyah!!" He screamed, falling onto the grass. He held his stomach tight, gritting his teeth. 'That'll be a bruise tomorrow…' He got up, looking back to see his father waiting for the passing traffic. He started to run, not anywhere in particular, but just away. It has been about an hour now, running, further and further. He heard someone behind him. Not bothering to see who it was, he brought up speed, assuming for the worst; that it was his father. — Present Time — After landing in the park, he tried to get up, but his legs just wouldn't let him. "Ugh…." He groaned, feeling the pain start to kick in. I guess the adrenaline from running earlier kept it down. After a few minutes he made another attempt to get up, in which he succeeded. But after a few seconds he started to feel dizzy, and fell down. Hard. So hard in fact, he started to black out. Well, from the fall and what had happened previously, that is. Before completely blacking out he heard, "Sir? Sir, are you alright?" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Heyo! How'd you like this chapter? I typically want chapters to be 1000 words or more, but it seems as though I am not very good at that. This fanfic will have more updates before I get "Kaleidoscope" out, because that one still has no beginning, lol. I also have another fanfiction underway in another place, and it desperately needs to be updated, so the update schedule should look like this: At my worst — Updated every Tuesday (unless otherwise stated) Kaleidoscope — Updated every Thursday (once it is finished, and unless otherwise stated) Word count: 678
