I mean, where's the creativity and heart? Oh wait, who actually give a crap about that anymore? All people do nowadays is take the same assets from other platformers without an ounce of heart, thought, creativity, or even a good way to show talent whatsoever, and sometimes not even giving credit to the original project. And for some reason, they always get on the front page and trending. Generic platformers also just take up space on the front page, and honestly, they're all pretty much the same game. Many great and creative projects might never get noticed because some generic platformer that might have taken about a few days to make is on it instead. The projects on the front page and trending sections used to be good, but now it's just a ton of cheap crap with all the good projects under the water. Look, I get that a generic platformer can be a good start, but if you keep making them over and over again, and not adding any new features the next time, it'll just get old and repetitive. For example, I saw this project called “Cursed Mansion” (https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/386884180/), which is honestly just great, with so much creativity and fun poured into it, However, it only has around 100 loves and favorites and 1000 views, and then there’s the generic platformers, which get over 10000 views on average. There's also this video about it: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/youtube/SU4fVo1FBvY While generic platformers have been on Scratch for a long time, it started becoming a huge issue after 3.0 was released. Nowadays, they just use the same assets and eye cubes. The original idea of the eye cube was made by a Scratcher by the name of @-Imagineer-. But somehow, it's spread all over Scratch, and many other people have started to imitate the design of the cube. So, why do we make generic platformers? Have we become so engrossed with these projects that we've forgotten how to be creative and original? Overall, it's depressing to see no real creativity left in the community. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ INSTRUCTIONS: You know what to do. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ TAGS: ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ CREDITS: (me) Idea + Coding + Art Generic platformers - Taking over all of Scratch - Inadverdently contributing to the horrible trend of generic platformers with the eye blocks Music: Bossfight - Leaving Leafwood Forest Far Away - Lost on Voyage Alan Walker - Spectre UPDATE LOG: 10/17/2021 - Shared 8/11/2024 - Reshared and loved by !
