Instructions

Chapter 2 Dawn pretended she didn’t hear her Nana on the phone. She pretended everything was fine. She asked her Nana why she had left the room, but her Nana lied. Nothing was right. Nothing was fine anymore. She decided she’d think about what to do the next day. So she went to sleep. But that wasn’t right either. She woke up to a bright light. “Nana… 5 more minutes..” Dawn said. A voice giggled. Dawn shot up, alert and awake. A small girl was sitting on the bed across from Dawn. Dawn screamed. “Who are you! Where am I? Where is Nana?!?” The girl looked curiously at her. Dawn looked the girl over. Long yellow hair… not blonde…. Yellow…. It was glowing… her eyes were electric blue, and her lips were unnaturally red. After a second, the girl spoke.”I’m Emilie. Your cell mate. We are in the basement of a California hospital. Your Nana? What’s her name?” Dawn took deep breaths. “My Nana… Suzana Smith..” Emilie stared “How old are you?” Dawn regarded the girl. She was 12 tomorrow. “I’m almost 12.. you?” Emilie smiled. “I’m six!” Dawn was surprised. “Six? Wow…” Emilie walked over to her slowly. “Suzana Smith is a co-owner to this lab.. with Maxwell Nix.” Dawn shouldn’t of been surprised. Mr. Nix was Dusk’s father. “There is one other person who lives in this cell. She’s out testing right now. Her name is Holly. She stays to herself, so try not to bother her. She can fly, and has snow magic..” Dawn was fazed. “So… does that mean you have magic?” Emilie looked uncomfortable “Um…. Do you?” Dawn realized that meant that she had a hat on. “Um.. yea… So, is there any way to escape?” Emilie shock her head. This cell has been specially designed for our powers… trust me, I’ve been in here since I was 4.” Dawn frowned. “I’m sorry..” Dawn heard a beep, then a voice “Get to the back of the cell! Now!!” Dawn frowned as Emilie didn’t move. But then, she didn’t either. The voice spoke again. “I SAID NOW!” Emilie frowned. “They can shock us. We should move.” She got up and pulled dawn to the back of the room. The door opened, and a small, cute girl was pushed in. She immediately went to the third bed, and collapsed onto it. The door closed. Holly was cut and bleeding. Emilie went over to her. “May I?” She asked. Holly nodded as she sat up, wiping tears from her eyes. “It huwrt awot dis time..” she said, sounding like a 6-yr old. But Emilie sounded like a 12-yr old, so who knew how old she really was. Emilie turned to dawn “Hey Dawn, this is going to look weird… but vampire’s spit has similar features to Phoenix tears…” then she turned and started licking Holly’s wounds. Dawn flinched then asked “Wait.. you’re a vampire?” Emilie finished, then turned to Dawn. “Half Vampire. Or something… I believe I’m about ¾ vampire.. but I was raised by humans so…” Dawn smiled. “How old is Holly?” Dawn asked. Emilie walked over to her bed, and told her “8. She has ADHD.” Dawn nodded. She knew about ADHD. Her friend’s brother had it. “We have to get out. I have a plan.” Dawn lit her bed on fire. Emilie stared. “The beds are suppose to be fireproof….” Dawn smiled. “They are. The fire is slightly above it. Start yelling” all three of them started yelling. Dawn turned invisible, and was able to get into the vent, teleporting. “They forgot to make it teleport proof..” the other two kept yelling as Dawn started lighting other cell’s beds on fire. She then teleported back, as the scientists were rushing kids out of cells. Dawn telepathically sent a message to all the kids. “If you can turn invisible, do it. If you can teleport, take as many as you can with you. If you can fly, fly to the ceiling and hide. If you can hide yourself in any way, do it” Several kids were grabbing and urging as many kids to touch them as they could. Then they were gone. A small boy who looked pretty much the exact opposite of Holly except for his height was dragging a girl who looked like a mix between them.
