sorry, scratch ruined the quality! click to zoom ~Backstory~ Lily's mom, Emilia, closed the damp umbrella as she stepped inside the pet shelter. Lily followed close behind, rubbing her palms together to keep warm. "Hey," the receptionist said warmly. "You two can take a look, and when you think you're ready, we can finalize it." Lily tugged on her mom's hand and dragged her towards the pets. "Okay, okay, I'm coming," Emilia laughed. Lily ignored her and continued pulling. "What about this little guy?" Lily asked, peering into the cage. Inside sat a pure white bunny, sniffing hungrily at his empty food bowl. Emilia wrinkled her nose. "Isn't he a little smelly, Lily?" Lily sniffed the air; her mom was right-he was a little stinky. Lily moved towards the sign that said hamsters. "I thought you said you wanted a gerbil?" Lily's mom questioned. "Nah, I changed my mind," Lily said quickly, remembering what her classmate Eric had said. Apparently hamsters were better in pairs, so she had thought to convince her mom that she needed two hamsters. Lily stopped at the cage of the first hamster: it was golden brown. The hamster looked rather smug as it turned to its neighbor, a large fat dirty brown hamster. As soon as it had saw Lily, it had immediately jumped on its wheel and was pedaling furiously. After a few seconds of that, it backflipped off of the wheel and landed feet-first on the ground. "Show-off," Lily muttered under her breath. If it was possible, it looked like the golden hamster was glaring at her. After shooting a death glare back, she turned to the fat hamster. Her mom was still watching the other hamster interestedly. The fat one was watching Lily uninterestedly, sniffing at the hand Lily had put inside the cage. "Nah," Lily said. "Too boring." The fat hamster shot her a weary look. Suddenly, the family next to her yelped. A little boy held out his finger, which looked like it had a small bite on it. "This hamster is a meanie!" he cried, stepping away from the cage and heading back towards the golden hamster. Lily rolled her eyes and moved towards the hamster that had supposedly nipped the boy. The hamster had sleek, graham cracker brown fur and a few darker brown spots on his body. Lily knelt down near the cage. "You're a beauty, aren't you?" She said, stroking the hamster's fur. It hugged her fingers. "I want this one," Lily called to her mom. ✄------------------------------- Potato rolled around in his hamster ball. "Wait up!" Lily laughed, chasing after Potato as he gleefully rolled around Lily's mini garden, which was in her backyard. The cherry clip that she had placed on the fur on top of Potato's head had fallen off and was bouncing along on the bottom of the ball. The smell of chocolate chip cookies wafted through the open window. "Lily, Potato!" Emilia called. "Snack time!" "Coming!" Lily answered. She scooped up Potato, who was still trying to roll around in his ball on her hand. "You are such a bad tempered little hamster," Lily said to Potato, grinning. ✄--------------------------------------------------------------- that's it! It was pretty long, tbh, but I hope u enjoyed!
