Green flag >:DD (the rocket launch is gonna lag, just fyi) ========= Ah, nostalgia. I used to make stories like this all the time. This is the first part of my long animation for Scratch Summer Camp! I am going to add more to it every day. Today's theme was SPACE! So, I made a team of miscellaneous animals with weird names get shot into outer space. ========== THE NAMES I used Google Translate and my brain (thanks brain) to come up with names for the animals. - Kit Kat (fox, genderfluid) In Finnish, the word "fox" is translated to "kettu." It reminded me of something I read (In China, sales of Kit Kat bars surge around the time that high school graduates send in their college applications, so friends and family give them Kit Kats, because the name sounds like the Chinese phrase "kittu katsu," meaning good luck.) And since "kettu" sounds almost like "kittu," I got their name. - Mo (chicken, female) The Hawaiian word for chicken is "moa," and I just shortened it a bit. Also anyone who says Mo isn't a girl name, who the heck cares? (And it is unisex, so) - Boomerang (bear, male) From the Indonesian word for bear, "beruang," I just smushed up the pronunciation and there ya go. (Originally pronounced "bear-OO-ahng" but it looked like Boomerang to me, so whatever.) - Victoria Ferr (don't know her species yet, female) Captain Ferr's name comes from Latin, with Victoria meaning victory, and Ferr being a shortened version of the word "ferrum," which means iron. Both words describe her well. - Ανιχνευτής (the ship) Pronounced ahn-ik-NEF-tiss and spelled Anichneftís in english, it means "scout" in Greek, which is the ship's job. - Oculi Feles (the planet they are going to) The planet looks like a catseye stone, so I put cats eye into the Latin translator. It came out as Oculi Feles, but then I realized I forgot the apostrophe, so I added it. But what came out was a whole lot longer, so I stuck with this version. ========= CREDITS Code by me. Sprites originally by Scratch, and then I shoved them in some flight suits. Sounds from Mixkit and SoundBible.
